When looking at ign or gamespot upcoming game listing Odyssey is not listed because it's a dlc not a new game.
Not getting the coverage that Odyssey deserves as it is a major upgrade to Elite.
How much sales are being lost ?

There have been a few press write-ups over the Alpha - I'm sure they will trigger more when the launch comes. Maybe around the time of the launch video today? Or maybe the reviews will wait until the game goes live tomorrow - not sure if press can get early access as there is only the one galaxy

It's not a typical DLC and I think it will do well.

ED has a small but very rabid fanbase who keep it alive. Space Legs are something many of them have been waiting for, for years. I think it will bring old players back and probably attract new faces from the Sci-fi genre in general. I can see alot of Eve, NMS and SC fans jumping over and trying it out.

The immense vote of confidence you show in Frontiers marketing and PR teams is wholly appreciated. Reading posts like this gives them a warm feeling inside. Or perhaps that's heartburn.

Odyssey is an more an first person adventure game with FPS elements than a straight up FPS and as such not aimed to compete with the popular FPS market. If anything it aims at people who would like to do some FPS but can't cope with what the genre is offering for a variety of reasons, old age probably one of them.

I can't really play Horizons after the Odyssey alpha because it feels like something is missing. So roll on errr tomorrow!



This is a personal feeling, if you despise Odyssey, I have no quibble with that.

The uplift in hardware requirements for Odyssey won't make any noticeable difference to sales because those specs won't fall outside today's typical gaming rig`s spec.

I expect them to be changing from Small Potato to Slightly Bigger Potato.

Don't expect modern games to run well on a Potato and people should be alright.

This morbid obsessing over a modest spec bump to reflect a new coat of graphical paint is as strange as it is pointless.

If ED is the only game people play (apart from Tetris, of course) then they may actually be playing on a 10 years old PC as the requirements are so low for this game.

If playing any more modern games, or in VR, then Odyssy could have higher requirements and still not stress a mid-range gaming rig

Don't worry - if the specs haven't changed they'll complain "it should be using more of my super new gfx card, how dare fdev not add ray tracing / DLSS etc etc", so they're covered either way.
