Is Q2-Q3 still the target for Horizons?

Hey guys,

First of all I would just like to apologise to everyone that feels downhearted about the lack of information regarding the Xbox One updates.

I truly *truly* do understand the frustration that you're feeling. I can understand that it comes from the best possible place which is that you want to be able to play and enjoy certain features and content. Whether that be the features to the current game like paint jobs or being able to explore planets and with the Horizons season pass.

The reason we haven't given an additional update past the previous ones is because we don't have any dates to share just yet. I understand that can be frustrating and I know that some people just want to know it's still in the being worked on.

The one thing I can say, if for any reason there has been a change to the progress that we're making, if it looks as though we find an issue that stops or blocks development we will let the community know and we would do it at the earliest possible opportunity.

Luckily I can say that this is not the case. The development continues to be ongoing and the team are working really hard to deliver features and content on the Xbox One version of Elite Dangerous.

Gary has previously said that we are aiming for Q2/Q3 to bring Horizons to Xbox One. This is still going to plan and if there are any changes to that then we will certainly let you know. I'm really hoping that we'll be able to give you more information in the near future but for now there's just a little more work to be finished before we can give you some dates with confidence. I'm hoping you'll be pleased when you hear the news.

I would just like to say that Gary really does value and respect the community and nothing would please him (or all of us) more than being able to share the dates and details with you. I have the upmost respect for Gary, he lives and breathes Elite Dangerous on Xbox One and I think that shows by how active he is in this community.

I hope that helps clear things up a little and in the meantime if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to get in touch with Brett (or myself) if you need anything.

*Mumbles* still have yet to rob him. [sour]

Zac, thank you so much for being able to sympathise with us. Most of us aren't trying to stir up trouble, we're just like you said... Frustrated.. Honestly I'm so relieved that you guys didn't give up on us because of some challenges. Also, I'm glad you (seemingly, I don't know if we have caused some sanity issues you guys just keep private) aren't too upset with our monthly "PR Nightmares" about Horizons.

Good luck guys,

-Syn

Thanks zac as I said when you gave us the Q2 or Q3 news a little information now and then goes a long way even if it's a nothing new but it's going well kind of thing.

Synergized I wouldn't worry about xbox players causing them sanity issues , just have a look at the newsletter thread for proof of moaning being a universal problem.

So nothing that is stopping or blocking development? So where's our paint then? People on here are quick to say thank you for your response, yet fail to see this is the same "soon", "nothing new yet" comment we always get except this is a longer drawn out statement. Paints in the game and you honestly cannot blame Microsoft for this. Almost every game that comes out nowadays has day 1 dlc whether its content or cosmetic. Yet you cant make this happen? I've said it before and ill say it again. Ark may not be the same type of game but damn.... their community feedback response is pretty good. Xbox is usually only 2 updates behind but these updates come out every 2 weeks. So roughly 1-2 months xbox gets to play catch up with PC. And ive also said I believe FDEV is dragging this out until the community becomes so small that release updates and dlc just wont be worth it to them. Then they just stop the support. They'll probably release Horizons but don't expect anything else in terms of DLC for xbox. This will remain PC strong.

I know I'm getting old, because when I originally heard "Q2-Q3" I thought to myself, "no need to keep asking then." Last I checked, we have not yet passed those parameters. So no need to ask anymore until Q3 has come and gone. If we don't have it by then, it'll be time to inquire again.

I have no need of Developer's updating me constantly about an answer they already gave. I don't have a self-entitlement complex. In some ways, the open line of communication the Interwebz gives us is detrimental. Parents need to remember to tell their children "No" once in awhile, this instant gratification society is a bit much.

Again, I know I'm getting old.

Here`s how i look at it, there is a crap load of stuff to do in the game, trading, mining, bounty hunting, smuggling, exploring, building credits, massing your armada, form wings, rez zones, greifing etc etc etc

There is still plenty of things for you all to do, when horizons comes out, you will have exhausted all other avenues of achievement and will have something brand new to dig in to. Dont wish all your content away too early...
