Are you seriously asking "why would someone knowingly post an image showing they hadn't updated their game client in 4+ years to pretend the servers are unstable?"But what if he was playing on Steam and that was just updating the game files? That guy updated his launcher by launching it manually. Was there no launchers between 2017 and 2019 or was Steam sidestepping what used to be a mainly Frontier-side thing?
Why would he bother to doctor this?
The launcher doesn't get updated every time the game gets updated. However, I am pretty sure that it was updated between 2014 and 2018...could it be possible that that version number is purely for the launcher itself and not the game?
I can't say for sure either way. I don't know what that number is. But I found this on youtube right away. It's from spring 2019, the previous verison is dated 2017.

anyway not gonna look into it further and using something from 2018 is kind of deceptive but.. I'm not sure 2014 launcher proves the screenshot is doctored.

The current launcher is from 17.01.2020 IIRC.
Legs arnt something I personally would pick but I will embrace them non the less if its what comes. I'm kind of enjoying not knowing what's coming and whatever it is I'm sure its going to be cool. Looking forward to see more of Frontiers vision for Elite and how it gets fleshed out.
Forgive me but as far as I've read the screen grab was only used in reply to Stigbobs claim that its the most stable game he's played and not to indicate that the game is dead/dying.
As for Stigbob it is often the case with him that he is able to so convincingly dismiss other peoples issues by having nothing to do with the features that cause issues. We love him dearly though.
I don't think anyone here has mistaken his opinion on the game for an informed one.As for shinji he's been in my in game friends list since he said he was gunning for me a year ago and hasn't logged in since.
Well, none of you are on my friends list - but I'm just unsociable - so thereI don't think anyone here has mistaken his opinion on the game for an informed one.
I'm not on your friends list, but that's because we, as everyone knows, are the same person.
Yep that's the thing. Any expansion for a game you genuinely like is a win (the opposite is also true no idea why people who dislike ED as is bother hanging about DLC is never going to change their subjective view of the game overall).
Personally I don't buy spaceship games for the feet at all, but I'll enjoy them if we do get them as I like FDEV's stuff.
The only possible dealbreaker would be space-feet with forced 3rd person and no option for 1st. However given they didn't even bother with a space ship vanity cam for the first few years of space stuff I can't see it being a genuine possibility as they obviously see the game as a first person thing.
Agreed about third person I can't stand it. I think the best part of legs will be having another way to appreciate the scale of the game (No VR). Ill take what i can get.
If a game has any melee combat or high mobility, third-person is a blessing. I can't imagine a game like Warframe in first-person.I can't stand 3rd person games, its usually just an excuse for really badly implemented shooting mechanics.
The "Out-of-Body Experience" provided by 3rd Person in walking/running games is terrible - but quite good in some driving games...I can't stand 3rd person games, its usually just an excuse for really badly implemented shooting mechanics.
As a game with VR that would pretty much be a given. I've said before, VR is probably the biggest obstacle to developing legs. The "Out-of-Body Experience" provided by 3rd Person in walking/running games is terrible - but quite good in some driving games...
Should "Legs" make it into ED I'll keep my fingers crossed it is all FP![]()

Why should that be? Surely it makes sense to present 1st person perspective in a game like ED - the only way we see the outside of our ships (or even most of the internals) is with an external camera. (I agree, as a VR user that 3rd person would be even more naff!) It is, after all, exactly how we view the world around us.As a game with VR that would pretty much be a given. Silly EzBob, now you're just contradicting yourself! If a game has any melee combat or high mobility, third-person is a blessing. I can't imagine a game like Warframe in first-person.
