Is the Krait Phantom Good?

It's an excellent explorer -- imo the best in the galaxy. You have room for everything you may want to bring, including a big fast fuel scoop, a very good jump range, runs cool, and can land almost anywhere. Also fast and agile in realspace and very good supercruise handling. Oh and its engine doesn't sound like a farting hippo.

All other viable explorers fall short in at least one of these categories, the Phantom just hits the sweet spot.

As such, it's also great for mat gathering and mission running (except combat or large cargo) - anything where you want to get places fast.

👆what he says.
Sublime. Size 7 distributor makes it almost op.
This, too.

Excellent reverski railboat, too 🤢

all the above. totally multi purpose. i had to get used to the design but after that...

not a full time fighter because of missing huge HP, not the best medium trader bc of less cargo than the python.

but excellent in speed, jump range, heat, handling. millenium falcon is not a bad comparision.

It's been my goto medium size Ship since it was introduced. Replaced my trusty Asp.
I use it for general short distance, Planetary landing, bubble stuff.
Out Exploring my goto's are still 'Conda or Cutter, depending how much Exploromining I wanna do.

With 2 C2 and 2 C3 hardpoints 😏

Thats like putting a 1200 HP engine in a bicycle. Lot of oomph, but not the means to make use of it.
Its my bubble jumper with guns, and it does see daylight sometimes.

Depends on the loadout... of course, if you mount 4 cannons on your Phantom, the C7 PD won't do you much good ;)

With railguns, imperial hammers, long range beams and the like even a g5 charge enhanced C7 PD can feel undersized.

A large PD doesn't increase DPS, but it does increase DPM.

not necessarily the best universal ship in elite but the safest
agile enough to fight / fast enough to run away
