Is there a reason not to buy an Anaconda?

Whatever anybody says, you owe it to yourself to try her and make up your own mind 🤷‍♂️
Although I stand by my dismissal of the ship due to its handling earlier, I could not possibly agree more with the above than I already do.

Don't buy/not buy based on whatever somebody else says, we're all different and probably have very different priorities and likes/hates.

What matters is what works for you. The ship you like is the best one.

So buy one and try it out! If you find you don't like it, you can always sell it like I did. But at least then you know. :)

I'm a small ship guy.

I like combat in an Eagle or a Cobra III, my exploration setup is a DBX.

Sure, I've got an AspX that I went to Colonia in which is now relegated to search & rescue and salvage. I also have a Python that I haul cargo in and use for mining.

The Anaconda...no, none of the large ships appeal to me. Too big, too slow, too expensive to outfit...and the rebuy...no thanks.

Besides, there are already far too many of them in the galaxy. Mary Sue just isn't for me.

As good as the 'Annie' is at some things, it really does have an awful cockpit view, good luck trying to see anything under you. it makes planetary landings considerably more nerve wracking than they need to be.

I've used mine for bulk passenger missions as a lot of the missions you take will have enemies come after you. Yeah, you can get something like a Beluga and try to avoid them. I just found it was more fun attacking them in the Anaconda.

Personal preference is the only reason I could think not to use one. Kinda like how I choose to use a T6 as a jumper over an Asp X or DBX.

Anyway, the Conda will do any task in the game well. It’s outclassed by other ships in some ways, mainly cargo and tanking abilities, but it’s a great all-rounder.

Excellent range in any configuration.

Edit to add:

Conda vs the T10 as a cargo hauler—

In a proper shielded build, the Anaconda will haul only a slight bit less(20 or something) than the T-10, whole having considerably better shielding and jump range.

Since the T10s strength is in its armor, hollowing it out for cargo+crap shield numbers punches your survivability right in the sack. The smallest generator you can use is a 6, I believe.

An Anaconda on the other hand, can just slap on a size 4 shield(no boosters) and have as much mj as a T10 equipped with a 6 shield (8 boosters).

Then there’s the T9– 512 tons in both 8 slots alone, with plenty of leftover optional slots for defenses. That’s already more than both the Conda and T10 in pure cargo config.

The T10 is just kind of a poopy trader unless you’re running shieldless like a dope. I suppose its one benefit over the T9 and Conda is it’s mass lock factor. It can low wake on anything but another T10 or cutter.

I can't believe FDev put so much effort into the Conda, with extensive damage modelling, the best jump range, 2 cargo hatches (redundancy :giggle: ), etc but left the cockpit looking like an afterthought. It's so plain it makes Ikea look luxurious.

And if the Conda is so good why are there so many crashed ones on planets?

While the cockpit is made of cardboard I think it does give you a much better sense of flying a big ship than the Cutter, as you look out across your bow a long long way away ;)

Bought one ages ago and it's barely moved. Flying around in that incredibly dull cockpit in VR for ages - no thanks. The only reason I've kept it is because my long-term goal is to get every ship, all engineered up to be good at something (or at least as good as is possible for that ship). I've not even begun on the Anaconda, even the Sidewinder's had more attention.
