It's a mustard ship. Some people love it, others hate the thing.
But to answer the op, yeah there's plenty of reasons not to buy it.
It has huge damage potential but half its damage is on the top and the other half is on the bottom which can lead to a rather mixed combat experience. It has the best jump range, but its handling in (and out of) supercruise can begin to grate on you after 100 jumps. It's expensive...
There's just a kind of unavoidable boringness to the ship... It's just not that nice to look at, I've bought paints and ship kits for it and it just doesn't leave me feeling inspired the way even an Eagle can. I did find a shot of one recently that I really liked...

However, I've had some good times in an Anaconda, and I doubt anything that anyone says here will be enough to put OP off buying one at some point. You only have to fight one as a new player to start dreaming of getting in the pilots seat.
