Is there a single bit of this game...

You make it sound like criticism is a bad thing. If I think a change would be beneficial and it's in accord with the categorical imperative, I'll criticise it because I like the game and want it to improve.

There are plenty of games/franchise reboots I bought and I never even bothered registering on their forums to provide criticism because I thought they were and not worth my time.

But there is a difference between providing feedback because you want things to improve, and the incessant irrational overblown dramaqueen whining these forums are host to. There is a difference between not liking feature X and suggesting change X, and "feeling gutted", "devasted", "betrayed" and "abusded" when FD "doesnt respect our time" and "supports psychopaths" or whatever inane verbal nonsense is being puked out on these boards on a daily basis. :)

And don't forget the hyperbole!

Another thread that thinks criticism is bad. Criticism is feedback, feedback is essential for any game that is being developed and played at the same time.

No. Another thread reminding us that there are still lots of positive things about Elite: Dangerous. It isn't all bad. In fact I think the good outweighs the bad which is why I'm still playing.

No actually the OP is telling people to stop complaining because some of this game is working properly and fun to play.

Everyone has his own likes and dislikes about this game (or any other). (*) (**)

If you put together all the dislikes from everyone, it will seem like "the community" dislikes the whole game, but that is a false impression. There's nothing wrong with criticism, although sometimes the manner in which that criticism is presented is not constructive.

(*) - ok, there are a couple who every single post is just bashing
(**) - and one who goes miles out of his way to find the pettiest reasons to complain about

...that has never been criticized to death by this community?

Everyone is critizizing every part of this game?

or better:

Is there any game available that has so many possibilities for a single player?

In fact no.

And that´s the other side of the coin when someone provides a mulit-facated game like Elite is. You will never be able to 100 % fit everyones expectations or needs.

The sound-effects when using headphones are awesome! There's so much that you miss just using a PC's speakers.

The attention to detail by the graphics team is often astonishing. For instance, did you notice during the "alien encounters", when the CMDR's ship lost power and drifted, the edges of the windows frosted up (watch one of the many Youtube videos if you missed it)? Somebody thought of that effect and programmed it into the game. It didn't have to be there. Nobody would have complained if it wasn't, but they put it in anyway. Way to go graphics team!

Should try it with proper surround, and a good set up... It's epic...

Z...

Every single bit, code snippet, module, patch, feature, game design, even things that still have to come in have been despised by someone (me too!) on this forums.
We are at a point that we often speculate on what next expansion will bring in and start to criticize it! We are a perfect model of modern opulent western society. We have amazing things, we have everything, but we are perpetually dissatisfied. To the many who start threads with the "I have put xxxx hours into this game but...", just think about the beauty of that. You have a toy that was able to keep you nailed for so many hours of your lives. It is something very rare. There are so few masterworks in gaming industry capable of such addictive potential. So let's stop thinking about what we don't like every now and then, and try to enjoy what we do like of Elite: Dangerous.

I think this is a positive thing. Everything, if held under honest scrutiny, will show problems and imperfections. It's only natural that, these days, with the ease of sharing and finding information, people see the flaws of things they like, specially after hundreds and hundreds of hours of play time. Also, I disagree that it's really rare: I usually dedicate over 100 hours to every game I have, the ones I play less than this are the minority. If anything, the gaming industry learned that keeping players in a Skinner Box is the best business model and an active player will keep buying cosmetics and expansions (the current target of ED).

To me, the real issue here is that people doesn't seem to be able to accept different opinions. I, for one, think that ED is merely an acceptable game, with a lot of problems, but arguably, the best space sim currently available - certainly, not one of the "masterworks in gaming industry". If you disagree with me and feel like it changed your life, I'm happy for you and, by all means, you can compliment it as much as you want. I, on the other hand, want it to be as best as possible, to improve over time and to be an industry standard for years to come, and I believe that positive feedback only will not improve the game, probably will make it worse. It needs criticism.

So, I will keep complaing about it, because that's what I like to do about stuff I care about and I care a lot about this game.

No smoke without fire.

Well, except for all the instances where smoke exists without fire.

People love to "blow smoke" and complain into the forums endlessly, but that just dilutes the conversations that could actually be constructive. Any good feedback and constructive criticism is buried under a smoldering mountain of hyperbole and salt.

I think you realise that it's a saying and not meant to be taken literally.

I like the salt it's often more interesting than the the alternative.

Well I'm sure constructive, intelligent conversation is less interesting for those unable or unwilling to participate.

And much like the saying "no smoke without fire", there's about as much correlation between that and the situation: very little. The implication that all complaining stems from an issue is laughable.
