Is there a way to update game clock to reflect clocks going forward?

I've always wondered if there's a way as my clock is still an hour behind. Any way of changing it within the game or is that a set time on the server?

The game clock is always in UTC, and doesn't take into account Daylight Savings Time. It would be awesome if we could have an option to have the clock in UTC, or local, or two clocks, one in UTC and one in Local.

That's going to be the better option if we're going to take everything into account.

Keeping game time at UTC is probably better for everyone else as well because counties can't all agree when daylight savings time should start and end, so it seems like a bit of a mess really.

I just know when it hits like 6 or 7 UTC, I need to go to bed.

I work in IT and have gotten used to UTC since that's what's on the servers. Easier than having to subtract 5 or 6, depending on the time of year.

I thought the game was getting the time from the FDev server but I definitely could be wrong about that.

It does. With the stuttering thing every 5 minutes, I tried to set the PC clock back by 2 minutes to see if it has an effect but the game still shows the correct time.

Yeah we got rid of it years ago, and despite the warnings of impending doom, chickens crowing at midnight, cows going mad with milk excess, kids not being able to sleep and curtains fading due to the extra daylight hours do you know how much it has affected the state? Not a single bit and I don't hear any demands for us to go back to daylight savings either, funny that! It was all doom and gloom from the supporters of daylight saving, but nada since we dropped it 14 years ago, people have forgotten it even used to happen, and kids these days don't even know it existed!

Just imagine the confusion if your ship set to local time every time you docked at a station…

TBF it does take some getting used to. I’ve been in port with Ship Time being different to local time as we’re only there for a short period.

It wouldn’t hurt to have a local time (taken from your PC) as well as UTC - it’s what we have on at least one clock on ship.

Although it does save some confusion when arranging to meet people in game, all being on the same time.

But regardless of whether DST is good, bad, should be the standard or discarded is not a discussion for here - tell your politicians. Meanwhile, its 11:59 here yet the game tells me its 10:59, this is pointlessly broken.

The problem is that because reality is dumb and if we all had local time, there would be at least 2 months of the year where no-one would have a clue what everyone else's time was because of all the different dates that times change, or don't change.

MMOs have used a standard server time for over 20 years. In a game that involves other people and being able to meet and coordinate groups for various content, it's really the only sensible solution.
