The thing is though - there was nothing wrong with polytechnics or colleges in the first place. Peeps went there to learn a trade or skills, and they usually came out having learned something useful that they could put to good use.
Then, something changed. Having no degree was suddenly seen as being some horrific disease, and everyone went berserk trying to make sure that every kid being thrown out of every school in the UK went on to university. It didn't matter if they weren't suited to that style of education, it didn't matter if they were rubbish and never learned a thing, it didn't matter if it cost the taxpayer a fortune.
All that mattered was that the UK could now suddenly boast this HUEG number of "graduates" and a massive seat of respected educators.
And look how it all turned out. McDonalds is full of them. So is the dole queue.
Anyway - it's still Asp and not ASP - and I love the sound of mine![]()
Hmmm! I really don't want to say "I love the sound of your Asp" even if it's true
