"It's less conspicuous"

Does the conspicuous rate increase if you a in a raider ship kit using a pirate skin, traveling backwards, firing off heat-sinks and chaff nonestop, singing Drunken sailor over the mic ?

It obvious why the Krait get scanned less, the authorities spend most of their time trying to work out if the ship is upside down or not.

There is no upside down in space.

I hope so.

Elite has spacial profiling.

Can't rep. Sorry.

So this only applies for NPCs and has no influence on any value visible to the palyer for example heat level?

Talking of NPCs...

Do they also have a conspicuous rating?
By which I mean, is it worth hanging around outside of scanning range waiting for a conspicuous NPC ship to arrive/leave and then sneaking in whilst the cops are busy scanning the NPC?

I think this 'conspicuousness rating' is related to your controlling faction rank. I know I never get scanned when running criminal passenger mission if I'm allied, otherwise it's usually a risk.

That would be you, not the ship.

Sandro referred to the ship. But your friendliness to the local factions is also relevant when smuggling/ running criminals because it determines the chances of being scanned.

Curious to know if the conspicuous rating is based on a ships' base/top speed.

I'm pretty sure the Clipper is rather high on this list. ;)

Sandro also spoke about it to Lave Radio a while back during the initial C&P mechanics.

http://laveradio.com/lave-radio-episode-177/

He starts talking about smuggling and each ship's 'ubiquity rating' around 1:26:00. I would also be very interested to learn more about this, but I suspect an element of 'special sauce' in the algorithm is required to keep it exciting!

He does give some detail though: "the larger and more exotic your ship, the more likely authorities are to scan it, and sooner rather than later ... it's quite a strong effect. If you come in in a small ship, or a reasonably cheap ship, or a common ship, you are much less likely to be picked out first, than if you come in swanning out in a Beluga or Fer-de-Lance or something like that".

I have also heard about things like paint condition factoring in on this.

He also didn't preclude faction rank as a contributing element to the overall CR ship rating, so.

x Combat rank I suspect. An associate of mine has never made a single kill and practically never gets scanned or interdicted.

x CMDR name variable ... I have a friend with lower ratings than I who gets interdicted constantly. His CMDR name includes ‘Lord’...

... and for a time, I was frequently a victim of interdiction, too... :p

Thanks, officer. I’ve owned my Fer De Lance for several years now. Amazing ship.

Hmm?

No, I’ve nothing to do with those half dozen ships reported missing. Real shame though. Listen, I’ve really got to be going...
Half dozen missing? In the last hour you mean? :D
