Also hatch-braker, can spam them and get past PD, don't even need to get the shield down. Most ships in open don't seem to carry point defence, so with an interdiction, and you get at-least something.
But pirating players that didn't wanna be (i know, no one wants to be) made me feel badas they didn't have anything real worth stealing. Would need an extra game system to make pirating progressive/worthwhile for the pirate apart from self achievement... (pirate rep and unlocks< never gonna happen)
Pirating NPCs is the only progression system, via cash. Player interaction are just for the luls/RP. (Also, wanna get into pirating, start with distress signals... 'ah you here to help...wait what!', you can get in on it, right from the start )
good pirates can stop a ship and there are plenty of tools out there for piracy , would love more, its a fun career.
Even with a sort of 'karma' system for pirating, rewarding some, Shunning others (no access to special items/locations) this will do nothing to change ganking.. or players wanting to run away from an interdiction... be it pirate or not.
Point defense is the most cost-effective defense in the game. Almost every one of my ships carries one, some *two* (upper, and lower).
I'm not paranoid about Russian missiles. Really.
