I've finally put my finger on what ED is missing.

Many of us submitted humorous ads for the post an ad competition. Looks like they were all rejected

The one that was accepted was "Friendship Drive Charging" which is a very good piece of art design, and amusing.

But there is immense opportunity to lighten up some of the stations with light hearted ads, just like in real life.

Humor.

We've all said it was a little boring, a little dry. I mean It can be absolutely frightening at times and infuriating. But you don't see too much on the positive side of things. You don't see too much lightheartedness or any charisma or character to the game. The only funny thing I think anyone can admit that is funny is the "penalty of death" for loitering. Galnet is pretty monotone all interactions with avatars are all business.

It is a serious game.

People are not serious. People / humans are creative and funny people. Look at the internet chock full of memes as the drop of a hat when anything happens in the world.

Memes are banned in the EU but are they banned in the galaxy too? Do thargoids meme??

What FD needs is an injection of fun into the game. Fun meaning funny, ridiculous, tongue in cheek behavior. All sorts of styles of humors both dark and light. Add the occasional crazy mission text. Add some crazy information about planets in the system map. Name some seriously funny planets.

DO SOMETHING to inject MORE MORE MORE humor and fun into the game. Hire a comedian if you have to. Make space memes spraypainted in stations.

I'm not talking about easter eggs. I'm talking about seeding the galaxy with some positivity and humor.

Ok guys - lets share our humorour moments. I'm not talking highbrow humor. I'm talking about borderline inappropriate, dark, light funny. Even dad joke material. WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN in the game that has made you laugh out loud??

I don't know that I've ever laughed in game ...[haha] This forum on the other hand...

Uhm. I just say "no". I wouldn't want any kind of humour injection for ED. I like it exactly the way it is.

But hey, this game is full of humor! Take a detailed look at the rewards, this is still a funny thing! 😂

Its in german, but i think you will get the point!

I don't know about outright silliness, but I do feel that the game needs more character. Factions and NPCs need more personalities beyond some basic superpower affiliations, states and government types. Factions, planets and systems should have special holidays and festivals that allow for both trade opportunities as well as unintentional procedural humour. The whole game feels very minimalist and sterile.

I had a mission from the Ni faction to collect and return a shrubbery!?
I did this and rather than rewarding me they requested another shrubbery?!
After doing this again, still no reward!?
Then a follow up mission appeared”Thank you cmdr for the shrubbery,it is a nice one and not too expensive. Now you must cut down the tallest tree in the forest with this herring!”
This game just takes the biscuit!?

An interesting perspective by the OP. I've always thought that the game has this subtle sense of humour that might even turn some people away because they thought the game should me more 'serious'. So it's interesting to me to see someone say that the game needs more humour - fascinating. Rather than the OP or myself being right or wrong, I think this says more about different people's perspectives and the diversity of cultural backgrounds than anything else.

MY POINT EXACTLY.

This game has all the style of a british made sitcom. Dare I say it needs a little more diversity on its team??? I don't want to go there at all but the flavor of the game has always been dark overtones, brooding, empty, monotone with the subtle sarcastic jokes. Its like the game lives on the event horizon and has no clue about what is above or below. I know they don't want to break from their theme and be completely absurd but this IS SIMULATING THE GALAXY. Wouldn't you think that the galaxy was capable of all sorts of things beyond our imagination?

I guess what this game lacks is imagination. The whole thargoid race is well thought out etc and extremely slow paced. I think they should introduce SOMETHING ELSE into the universe that is some "comic relief"

Droids/androids maybe? With limited intelligence?

I think it would help if the communications you see in text/mail in the communications frame were voiced and more were added.

I agree. They have a fantastic audio team (one of the best in the industry) however they are limited to space for the consoles. They narrowed themselves into that corner.
