ANNOUNCEMENT January Update - Patch Notes

Nice load of fixes there, but when will the game be getting a new launcher and patching system? The current launcher is like something from the dark ages, it doesn't even communicate how large the patch is or how much you've completed.
 
Dear FD, I don't have access to Beta being an XBOX player. I hope someone is fixing the codex, many times new codex discoveries pay no bonus and visiting new bodies often doesn't register in the codex, also often visiting reported sites no longer have the geological or biological item present. On a general principle I find most codex first finds were discovered within a few minutes of their release, and cmdrs like me only get round to them 1 year on, which makes the game more relevant for front runners and incentive is a bit lost for those that take their time, wouldn't another mechanic be placed to make it more interesting, I am trying to get a complete on codex for inner Orion spur but with the bugs it isn't possible, and even if so having some completionist bonus would be good incentive to complete the task.
Also one the scourge decal is reversed on some views, not sure if this is being addressed.
Other than that fixing the bugs would be great, I have lost so much trade rank due to cargo not being registered upon trade selling, especially during CGs.

Note they have said they're looking into giving consoles beta access too:

The next updates will be coming with their own public beta, the first of which will run on PC from 27 November to 2 December for the January Update. We are also investigating the ability to extend future betas to console players as well

So you may be able to test, and give feedback, on any issues which impact you directly and bump up their priority.

Is the information whether a planet is teraformable now included in the FSS view? Always found it annoying to have to go back to the system map to get this information...

I'd have preferred new content (fleet carriers...) over this bug fixes (didn't recognize most of them or if, they didn't bother me), but guess I'm in the minority. So thanks for the fixes anyway.
 
Will there be any point in having multiple NPC crew at this point? I can see why it was useful in the pas to have up to 3, since it was nice to have a backup crew member in case you lost of a crew member due to being destroyed. But now, assuming you have ship rebuy + NPC crew rebuy (which will now become RULE #1: NEVER FLY WITHOUT REBUY + NPC RESCUE), there doesn't seem to be any reason to have more than 1 NPC crew hired. And, in fact, there would seem to be a strong incentive to NOT have more than 1 NPC crew. I have three ELITE NPC crew members, all of whom I've trained up from Harmless (so they all take 10% of my earnings). I've accepted this 30% "NPC Crew tax" and have paid out nearly 2 billion credits to my crew over the years. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that we can now rescue NPC crew, but I hope that I there will eventually be some type of gameplay where having three Elite NPCs is worth the grind to train them and the money I've paid them. Perhaps I'll be able to deploy them as a fighter escort to my fleet carrier when fleet carriers become available to Pilot Federation members.
NPC crew/NPC Comms will become a thing in the near future.
 
always found it annoying that the info on next star type disappeared after a few seconds and is easy to miss, important to know if a neutron or T tauri is about to come up when exploring, cant it appear in the lower left hand system name screen which always says unknown when jumping?

I have made a suggestion before to make the Info panel (top right) accessible and scrollable, but I didn't seem to gather much support from the community. And since FDEV never bothers to reply to any threads in the Suggestion forums i have no idea if it was ever noticed by them.
