Who we are:
The Techno-Union [TECU] Squadron is the military arm of the TECHNOLOGY-UNION, a company that produces all kinds of military technology, weapons, ships, ammunition, you name it. It originated in BAROO as a merger of a couple of smaller companies and quickly began expanding, selling products to all superpowers and minor factions, to capitalize on the fear of galactic war. The TECU Squadron was founded to protect the company's assets and expand its influence. That also means we put heavy emphasis on our BGS work - conquering starports and systems and expanding our influence in the galaxy. The TECU welcomes all commanders regardless of Skill or age. Our Units and Forces:
| Control Unit
-To protect the company's assets, the Control Unit acts as a military squadron, currently mainly in and around Baroo. The Control Unit puts heavy emphasis on Controlling Systems, Citys, and Stations to expand the influence of the Union in the Galaxy.
| Security Divison
-The Security Division is the Elite of TECU combat pilots and acts as second police in Baroo. Rumors say that certain assassinations were made by members of the Security Division, but could never be proven true. It is confirmed though, that the Security Division has ties and contacts to a lot of other squadrons, both independent and aligned to the superpowers.
| Intelligence and Covered Operations Unit (ICOU)
-Not much is known about this secretive subdivision other than that they seem to operate just as legal as they possibly can, without compromising the company's reputation.
| Expedition Fleet
- The Expedition Fleet was founded to explore the space around the bubble. The main purpose was to find valuable production materials and Guardian technology for the production of certain ships,Unio modules and weapons, but it quickly turned out that just selling the data to Universal Cartographics was earning the Technology-Union a lot of easy money.
Origin Story
The Baroo-system was in a state of normally regulated capitalism and democracy and remained relatively stable, albeit far away from the interstellar stage of large-scale politics, for almost a hundred years. The population was relatively wealthy and there was healthy, but not overwhelming trade amongst neighboring systems. That was, until 3302, when a bacterium was brought in, due to low hygiene regulations or smugglers (no one knows for sure), that wreaked havoc amongst the local agriculture and immediately began a famine that would kill more than 20% of the population until 3304. The famine started a period of economic disaster and the biggest company, the "Baroo’’ Technology Corp." declared bankruptcy. In these dark times, one man, in fact, one of the wealthiest people of Baroo saw an opportunity. Aiden McGowan was the CEO of "McGowan Enterprises" and with his influence over the local democratically elected government, he was able to buy the Baroo Technology Corp. along with a couple of other companies, to effectively form one giant megacorporation de facto controlling the system. A couple of years passed again, McGowan Enterprises and subsidiaries were able to get the famine situation under control, all the while slowly accumulating people loyal or dependent on the company in key government positions. Then in 3305, with elections scheduled a couple of months later and polls showing her opponent in the race having the lead, Prime Minister Alameda Guerra decided, it was time to act against the giant influence McGowan Enterprises had on the system. She basically tried to force the company into splitting into a couple of sub-companies all doing business on their own. McGowan didn't want to see his empire divided, and with widespread support due to the people of Baroo being thankful for McGowan Enterprises' role in helping get the famine under control, as well as many of them now benefitting from the company, civil unrest broke out. The military stepped in and fights erupted. The uprising took about 2 weeks and left the capital city ''Ibrapolis'' in ruins, but when the dust settled, McGowan took control of a number of smaller competitor companies and rebranded McGowan Enterprises into the Techno Union, all the while a government was set up, that was directly controlled by the company leadership of Techno-Union. The Union quickly started to engage in technological advancement, as well as weapons and military hardware, to capitalize on the cold war between the interstellar superpowers, and the build-up of arms throughout the bubble. Alpha Vega was the co-founder of McGowan Enterprises but disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He appeared right back when the Union completely took over Baroo, and no one can really be sure about the behind-the-scenes happenings. Sadly, McGowan died in January 3307.
