Joystick Curves utility no longer works - xedocproject account suspended! [SOLVED]

It works! It works! I just fired up ED (in pancake mode, I reinstalled Winblows a short time and haven't got around to installing Oculus again), and man, it works!

Stellar job, both of you! I hope the Mods pin this thread -- so that other users can get help, as well.

Incidentally, I thought I had borked Joystick Curves by disabling VJOY. I had to, because certain games (looking at you, Dead Space series!) refuse to run with it. They just CTD (Dead Space 1 and 3), or run, but crash at random intervals (Dead Space 2). Disabling VJOY fixes this rather nicely (though you have to unplug the joystick, as well... reminds me of Mass Effect 1, which had the very same problem).

Anyway, THANKS again!!

Had the same issue this morning but before you posted the fix! I uninstalled and used Joystick Gremlin instead. It was pretty easy to set up and it looks like it has a lot more features. I like the idea of the Tempo feature where you can implement long presses on your buttons so you can make them dual purpose but haven't tried it yet.

I keep hearing good things about Joystick Gremlin. I should really take this as a final warning and just make the switch.

Personally I use Joystick Gremlin so I can't really tell if it works. But I just compiled a "dev" version without all of the installer/updater stuff attached to it.
You can try if that one works for you.
It opens up for me without the need to modify the hosts file, but I can't tell if it needs any additional settings.

Let me know if it helped :)

Hm seems like I cannot attach a zip file here? So I'll go with an external link:

Thanks for this, but how can I access my saved profile? I can't seem to find where the app stores its settings.

YIKES!

Like you Alec starting JCurves is part of my routine, in fact it's in the Autostartup folder.

There's some ships that'd be unflyable for me without yaw damped.

You OK now with the "hosts" file workaround?

I won't know til later! The important thing is that:

a) I'm not going to poop myself when I startup!

and

b) there are at least 3 workarounds, for which I am eternally thankful to you and dr_chef!

Can't imagine flying my Chief or Vulture without the twist stick yaw on my T16000 setup damped by at least 90% - lol

Probably worth mentioning how good the JCurve software was/is. Good luck to the writer wherever he's at right now and thanks!

Currently not able to test, as I'm @work and Linux does not like the software ;-)

But I found a post which describes where the profiles should be stored:

I guess you can simply copy / import them? I can have a look later if you still need help.

Thanks again for your help, I found the config store as per the linked post and confirmed it's the correct file, but now I can't find where the dev version is storing its config data. It doesn't seem to be either in the unzipped folder or in the same(ish) location in local app data.

That was really tricky, seems that it uses a Microsoft default location. Which is for me:
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\JoystickCurves.exe_Url_uthrisqcvw5z5fwvhd3m2ssrkltyjevh\1.0.0.1

While this folder has the name of the application and a random uid. Note that this folder changes for me if I move the location of the application (so if I move JoystickCurves.exe to some other place on my HDD it also generates a new config folder).

But I guess it should work if you copy your old config to that new folder.

I just compiled another version without the whole debugging stuff. But you can still use the one you have, it's just a bit "smaller"

I'll check later but if that's true then people who've made that change to the "hosts" file should probably re-edit that file and comment that line out (what I mean by that is, put a "#" character at the start of the line you added - that will turn the entire line into a comment but leave it in the file in case you ever need it again in the future).

Edit: yup - www.xedocproject.com is back up again so if you want you can go ahead and comment out that hosts line. I'm actually going to leave mine blocked. JoystickCurves works perfeclty for me and has done for many years so I'm really not interested in any updates, I just want the software to continue working as is.

Awesome. I found my equivalent directory and have copied my old profile across. I'll use this version now to avoid potential future issues. Thanks again!

Grrr! I'm about to give up. I'd already uninstalled Joystick Curves and vJoy before I saw this thread but I had everything working yesterday with raw axes, and was prepared to just get used to it. Today my binds file wouldn't load at all. I found all the FEEDFACE references and replaced them with "T16000M" and the file no longer shows up in BindingLoadingErrors.log but it still won't load!!

Before anybody says "shoulda backed up", this was a backup (my system gets an incremental image daily), using a file that worked yesterday.

Think I'll just start from scratch. I've got a big ol' spreadsheet that lists all my bindings, just for such an eventuality. I just need to set some time aside for when I can be arsed...
