This is a great update

May I ask, will this be expanded upon in the future? I would've assumed all pack hunters, like the Atrociraptors, Velociraptors, and Pyroraptors, would have this feature as well, as well as smaller predators, like Compies.
You can now pass through Tour Gates when manually controlling MVUs & Ranger Team vehicles
This is so useful, thanks

OK, I gotta be honest, the "prebuilt park" option is incredibly lazy. It's literally a copy-paste of the layouts it refers to. Like, if I set prebuilt layout in Arizona with Jurassic Park style, it will literally simply feature the DFW buildings, not even the effort to uniform them to my selected style.

Thanks for the content and these: Airlift on que and fixing that lagoon platform are now available on the Malta Campaign. Is the issue that "One More For The Sticker Book" not properly unlocking in PS5 fixed?

If JWE 1 would have gotton so much love, updates and development time it could probably haven been worth the steep price tag of around 60 Euro. Unfortunately shortly after purchase the players have been forgotton. The disappointment was so big that I never ever considered getting the second game. I also always felt like I have been fooled to bring money to the movie company behind with all that movie stuff in game including the movie intro. :(

Another update and again I have to wonder why it seems to be so hard to implement a proper skin preview in the actual hatchery where it should be. Still the same old tedious quit, exit, reload each and every time you want to make sure you get the right one. Or lists or screenshots or whatever else people came up with that they shouldn't have to in the first place. Was really hoping this one would finally change it what with the hatchery updates and all, but guess I was wrong.

Glad to see we finally have random dino unlock (which, let's be honest, should've been there from the start) here as well and some more deco but other than that I'm pretty meh about it tbh.

And since I don't see a note about it, it looks like lagoons are also still so freaking dark and opaque you barely see the creatures in them, which is a shame really. The animals look great, yet having them is kinda pointless since you won't be able to truly enjoy them anyway. Really wish the water was either more clear or we had on option to set transparency and prossibly even color for it like we do in PZ.

Species Unlock Shuffling

  • This is a new setting to partially randomise the order in which species can be unlocked on the tech tree for both Custom Challenge and Sandbox mode.

I am trying out the features of the free update currently. Though the "dig site randomization" is nifty, It would be better if Compsognathus be a starting dinosaur. So far, the Compsognathus can only be unlocked in 1 star.

Just as new predators are added, it would be better if there are beef cattle and deer as alterative prey.

As I have planned, once I have gotten the new DLC, I will attempt the official Southwest USA challenge mode in Jurassic difficulty.

The Tarbosaurus will make an excellent addition for the official challenge mode based on the film Jurassic World, but I still find Microceratus to be the missing ingredient for Jurassic difficulty.

So still no fix for the Pyroraptor and Therizinosaurus feathers because they are glitching bad and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times to no avail

Edit: Disregard the below section (now put behind a spoiler tag) and see my updated response, and investigation on this matter. Hopefully frontier addresses and fixes these bugs before support is dropped.

What platform are you on? I'm on PC (Steam) and getting this still. Not sure about the Pyroraptor, but I know both the Therizinosaurus and feathered T. rex had this issue, but I think at least the T. rex is fixed now? Doesn't seem to have the darkness it used to have. Not entirely sure about the Therizinosaurus however. The feathers on the head still look a bit off.

Before:

After this update:

Here's what the Therizinosaurus looks like now:

IvHWNR6.png
All of the JW Pteranodon patterns, except Rana and Papurana are still broken (no color on the head, except a small thin outline). Previous-Bit280 shared this on reddit recently, and I figured it would be good to call attention to it here.

Here's Rana with Qilian Mountains (all the below share this), which is working as intended:

Other bugs:
I'm still having an issue with keybinds being reset if they are set to use keys that were previously mapped elsewhere. I know I mentioned it before on the subreddit, maybe even placed a bug report (can't remember). I'd had this problem since I bought the game in March 2022, right after the Camp Cretaceous DLC released. An example is the building placement rotate item left and right that I have mapped to A and S respectively, being reset to their defaults or whatever after closing and relaunching the game, but it happens to more then just those (such as the ranger teams keys, etc).

I also just recently encountered an issue with some Moros starving to death in Sandbox (California square map). Granted I had dumped every single (land) feathered species in to one small enclosure (about 4 by 4 full pieces with additional rounded corners, you can get a glimpse in the above Therizinosaurus image), to test and compare the feathered/65 ma T. rex skin, and the Therizinosaurus, but the Moros had several prey feeders, and meat feeders.

Have yet to test but I'm hoping the bug with Sinosauropteryx stats making it too weak to pack hunt goats (100% failure rate) has been fixed.

Now some feedback:
Also can't believe you all just pulled a fast one on us with those new Mosasaurus (and Tylosaurus) social animations. Absolutely love to see it though. I didn't see any mention of it in the patch notes (but this happened last time with the surprise update to the Spinosaurus rig and animations).

Also really glad to see most of the decorations I had asked for previously (if not others as well) have been added. Specifically the potted plants, benches, bins. I'm glad for the new banners and fountains too. Again would like to see the vending machine, and some of those other planters and/or fences get added in a future update, but what has been added, simple as it may be, was a much needed addition.

That said I do wish the new tree planter was available in the mixed biomes option for foliage, and not just the current biome (though that said it would be nice to have a proper autumn variant of this new fountain and all the previous planters. Ditto with the unique Biosyn Apline trees and Malta Mediterranean trees).

Some other features I think we still need:

Creatures:
  1. New DLC creatures need their appeal/stats fixed, this goes for the newest pack (Concavenator having higher appeal, costing less, and weaker stats then Utahraptor seems odd to say the least, nevermind Gigantoraptor which probably should be on par with Deinocheirus and Therizinosaurus. Tarbosaurus appeal also seems very much on the low side. Lower then Deinocheirus, and all other large theropds.) and the previous one (progression for appeal would make more sense to have Shonisaurus has the highest, Dunkleosteus, Archelon, and Nothosaurus at the lowest. Not sure if this is still the case, but is Archelon still causing Ichthyosaurus, etc to panick, and is still unable to be predated on by anything?
  2. Lagoon brushes and expanded lagoon creature needs (at least the coral and/or rock decorations, but kelp, as teased in the startup video on the game would be good). Placing decorations to help fill in the barren lagoons is nice and all, but extremely tedious on a large scale, and unlike the brushes, the more decorations used, the more it dips performance over time. Every other creature in the game has environmental needs, except lagoon creatures with the exception of space. Aside from the social animations that were thanfully added, this could give new life to them, and help bring them to the same level as the rest of the creatures in the game.
  3. Variants for the remaining unique models (JP/1993 Triceratops, feathered/65 ma T. rex, 2022 Dominion Parasaurolophus, JPIII/2001 Ankylosaurus, and the JP/1993/TLW/1997 and JPIII/2001 raptors).
  4. Social animations and walking (at least for Quetzalcoatlus) for pterosaurs still need done. Maybe alongside a pterosaur/flyer pack?
  5. Sauropods can defend themselves (or fight with other sauropods), especially for the largest like Alamosaurus, Dreadnoughtus, etc.
  6. I really want to see the new paired/pack hunting feature expanded for Allosaurus, Albertosaurus, and maybe Giganotosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus. In fact those were the species I was hoping most would get this treatment.
  7. Shark feeder for Tylosaurus (unless this has finally been changed in this patch, but have yet to see).
  8. Since the devs seemed to have changed their mind on changing pre-existing parks with the Aggressive gene now changing all previous likes to dislikes, effecting pre-existing parks, hopefully some minor diet tweaks can be made (in addition to their previous diet if need be). Tapejara eats from fruit and nut. Dimorphodon eats from the insect feeder. An alternative solution would be to introduce Tupdandactylus (hopefully with pycnofibers/feathers), such as EmronRazaqi69 suggested on the reddit.

QOL:
  • A way to disable panicking inside of sandbox for the creatures.
  • More dig teams and research teams. This is particularly of concern with the fact we have over 100 species (if one has all DLC). There are now 90 land creatures (with all DLC). This was a feature in the first game and there's no reason why it can't be a thing here again, even with the current scientist system.
  • I haven't quite checked if this is no longer the case, but just in case, better handling/driving on the ranger teams like in JWE.
  • Binoculars upgrade for tours. This was in the first game (at least RTJP DLC), but was not carried over here either.
  • Visibility for paths around/outside of enclosures so attractions aren't always needed for certain exhibit styles (especially if some smaller fence types could be introduced for the many small and tiny creatures in the game). Could also be expanded to have the above binocualr suggestion to give guests better visibility for on paths.
  • Could tall paleoflora count for (some) forest coverage? Reducing the sauropod needs is a good start though, but this would be an improvement on enclosure design for all herbivores and even carnivores (outside of sandbox with comfort off).

Other:
  • Maybe some optional pre-filled benches and tables (the ones available at launch, plus the new 30th update ones) that have guests sitting on them. They would be no different from the various tables on the amenities or the JW entrance for example.
  • Mixed biome terrain textures (if not brushes as well). Man I really just want to have some snow on the Biosyn map.
  • The placeable amphitheater in more rock colors (and remove the San Diego, and/or have corresponding logos for the other maps). While it is nice to have it as a placeable attraction, it does feel like it could have been implemented much better.
  • As mentioned above, some smaller fence types for the numerous tiny creatures (Compsognathus, Oviraptor, etc) and small creatures (Amargasaurus, Struthiomimus) in the game.

I apologize to break out the bad news: even with Update 8 integrated, the official Germany challenge mode in Jurassic difficulty is still not working.

Thank you so much for this uptade and DLC. Fans are happy. I want to know that i notice something weird. Theri likes lystro but Lystro hates Theri. Is this a mistake or was made on purpose.

I cant wait to see more content in the future.

So it appears I was incorrect in thinking the feathered/65 ma T. rex skin was fixed in my previous response to this thread.

I did some more investigative work with this, by going as far back and downloading the first June 2022 update (when the Biosyn DLC launched) through the Steam Console, and using the manifests, etc on the steamdb website. I also went digging for the date of the before pic in my initial comment on this post, and it was posted over a year ago (more then 12 months ago), perhaps before the Malta DLC released, but after the Late Cretaceous one dropped? I can't recall when it first started showing up as broken though (perhaps after the Malta DLC dropped)? It is possible I took that before shot before it actually broke, which would put this in the reverse condition.

All below screenshots taken on the Biosyn map in sandbox, day only, everything else default. Graphics settings were set to as high as possible for everything with Nvidia DLSS turned on, set to quality.

Here is the feathered/65 ma T. rex skin currently:

If I recall correctly, some time ago someone on the subreddit had managed to figure exactly what the issue was, in that Frontier for some reason managed to remove (which caused this bug), and forgot to add certain files back which helped with the transparency effect. This is why the edges currently look jagged compared to how softer they looked previously.

Pack Chase Behaviour

  • Selected carnivorous dinosaurs will now chase alongside a same species hunter as they go after their prey
  • Applies to:
    • Yutyrannus
    • Australovenator
    • Concavenator
    • Cryolophosaurus
    • Herrerasaurus
    • Monolophosaurus
    • Utahraptor
    • Troodon

My research records said that dromaeosaurs and Allosaurus hunt in groups. Would it be better if the following species also have the "pack chase behavior"?

  • Velociraptor
  • Pyroraptor
  • Atrociraptor
  • Allosaurus
