Jurassic World Evolution Mega-feedback thread for Frontier

Just gonna remind everyone, regarding dionsaur size issues, please do not just blindly trust the ingame listed values thank you...

like, seriously, have all your guys complaining about the brachiosaurus size even looked at the in-game brachiosaurus, compared to a ranger jeep, a guest standing next to it, a viewing gallery ect.... it's clearly more than 6.4m tall. that value CLEARLY lists te height at shoulder without taking the neck in account guys... and the 18.8m lenght CLEARLY lists the lenght in normal posture (with the neck held up) while the 27-ish metres leght commonly cited in litterature is the full leght (if the brachiosaurus holds its neck fully horizontal in an unnatural position).

do NOT make brachoisaurus any bigger lol! please remove this suggestion from the list, i can guarentee you current brachiosaurus is NOT too small
it's right now on the verge of being too big but still realistic. by comparing it to a jeep parked next to it and a viewing gallery and guests in game, the current brachiosaurus looks to me to be around 14/14.5m tall. imo this is still realistic but just about the maximum possible size (biggest known brachiosaurus specimens in real life are i believe around 13.5/14m tall, with most individuals being more like 11-12m tall).

Regarding Giganotausaurus size i havent unlocked it so cant comment, same for spinosaurus, althought the spinosaurus from the Jurassic Park franchise is so different from the real one that i don't really mind size issues (either too small or to large) as much with this one.

what i CAN tell you however is that the T-Rex is wayyyyy too big, it's basically godzilla. again, do not trust the 14m value listed in the game, by comparing how big it is with a guest, a jeep, ect... the current T-Rex we have in game is like around 16m-ish it looks like. not just a little too big, waaaaay too big.

what takes the cake however is the ceratosaurus. in real life was 6m, 8m max. in game it says 10.4m, but the model is actually like 12-13m. actually, the current size of the ceratosaurus is just about right for the size a realistically sized T-Rex or Giganotosaurus whould have... and basically 2X the size of a realistic ceratosaurus lol!

and for those of you saying it's a movie accuracy thing with the ceratosaurus; i disagree: we've seen in Jurassic Park 3 the ceratosaurus to have it's head only stand about as tall as a standing person.

I've added alot of stuff to the document from here and reddit. I hope that the devs will take a look at it and review it for the general stuff that can be sorted for quality of life improvements to the game.

Talking about size maybe the biggest concern after the lacking of modding suport is probably the island size. If we use the Tyrannosaur as a measurement unit and compare with the map size of the actual competitor of JWE, Prehistoric Kingdom what we will have? The biggest map of JWE (Sorna) will be a "70~100x15~20" rexes when the PK one is arround a "1000x1000" rexes at least, probably bigger (in my pc are impossible to render the dinos in the full zoom out to do an acurate measurement). And PK is a g Unity game. Is the Frontier engine less capable than the Unity in generate maps (and maby in fact is, some engines are not good in deal with big maps)? Or we can have at least have a map that is a "250x250" rexes for sandbox? And of course, we need maps that are not only big, but have some resemblance to the cenario that they meant to represent. Because Sorna and Nublar can be anything but Sorna and Nublar.

yeah i agree maps feel to small, althought i feel like they whouldn't seem so small if the game didn't force us to spam power stations, hotels, monorail stations, and big research buildings everywhere and most importantly, requires you to have the same 3 buildings (food, fun and shopping) basically right across the road from every viewing gallery or the guests won't be satisfied... that alone robs a lot of space for your dinosaurs and also prevents you from being more space-effective in where you build what :(

also, with this game being on console, i feel like the small maps are required because the graphics can't be customised on console, they just use the highest settings, so as a result, sure modern console can run this game on high settings, but not if the islands were bigger than they are now...

hopefully in the future they introduce bigger maps or expand the ones we have (even if it's for the PC version only)...

Options to transferring dinosaurs from one island to another using the transport helicopter.

A sandbox mode on all islands, so would also have the challenge mode that would be separate, as in Zoo Tycoon 2.

Would having the option to use the tranquilizer rifle in the jeep be included here?

Copy pasta from a thread I made earlier:

I've followed this game from it's announcement and now that I've had a decent amount of time with the game on PC I'd like to suggest some tweaks I'd like to see.

Overall, I like this game, but there's a few things that are holding it back from being truely great. I'm sure some of this feedback has already been provided but I couldn't find a megathread anywhere.

Guests:
- Guest building sales options are unclear. What's the difference between menu items and why should I care? Please provide a pop-up box explaining what changing menu items does, apart from attract more sales if you play with the slider.
- Not that sure about this one, but I might like to see paths offer a (small?) visibility radius so guest can "see" dinos from the path. Concrete walls present a issue to this I'll admit.
- Can we please get a roadblock type placement so guests don't wander down into my industrial areas?

Fossils and Expeditions:
- Need a keybind or double-click option to extract or sell fossil from the fossil screen. There's a lot of mouse moving back and forth and it's a bit annoying.
- Mid-late game expeditions feel kinda rushed with 3 teams. It just doesn't feel as impactful as when I was on the early isles with one team. Later it just feels like a spam race to extract and send teams. Not sure what to change here.
- Please let us see current levels of the dinosaurs genome from the expedition screen. A few times I was sending teams to a site that I had 100% on and didn't realise. Perhaps the pop-up panel over each site can list the dinosaur name with a % next to it to indicate the current genome.

Incubation:
- We need a preview dinosaur skin option from the mod (or incubate would be fine too) screen. How am I supposed to remember which my favourite skins were?
- "Set favourite skin" option from mod screen.
- Preview dinosaur needs on incubate screen. It's frustrating to breed a dino to then discover the pen you built is woefully inadequate, or that it needs a friend.
- A "random skin" option from incubate screen. This could be a little checkbox next to the incubate button.

Interface:
- From the map screen, can we please have the option for ALL dino needs to pop up when a dino is moused over.
- Park alerts at the top of the screen. Mouseover should give details on the alert and clicking on it should take you to it.
- Please remove zoom to building when it has been clicked on. Very frustrating. Instead, implement a button on the building details panel for zooming to the location.
- More keybind options for PC please. I'd like to bind the map and control centre at least.
- The icons above park buildings to indicate an available actions (e.g. research, expeditions etc) should be a floating icon on the interface. The amount of times I've had no expeditions out...

Building and Terraforming:
- Terrain obstructions for placing buildings.....this is extremely annoying. Perhaps scale buildings down, or, I don't know...something!!
- Please implement an "undo last" button.
- Fence joins can be very janky if you don't line them up perfectly and you can end up with 3 pylons and lights at the one join. For OCD players (I'm sure there's lots of us playing sim games ) this is a nightmare. Can we clean up how fences join?
- Better options to place single trees. It kinda works but not very intuitive.
- Rocks plz.
- I just don't like the way releasing dinosaurs works, I mean, it looks amazing and all, but the Hammond Lab is just too large. I usually build one per island and just tranq and drop dinos where I need them. This gets a little frustrating after a while. Can we have an additional option for dinos to spawn tranq'd in the lab, and a carry helicopter just lowers down and grabs it from amongst the trees in the lab and then drops it where you want it? That will save a lot of busy work.

Park Management:
- A "move to" command for the jeep and helicopter. Players are already flying and driving out first, then jumping out and executing commands.
- When the jeep and helicopter are clicked it should default to the Add Task command. This saves us a click.

Dinosaur AI:
- I don't like how herbivores and carnivoars "lock on" into battle animations. It should probably be the carnivoar moving in with the herbivore taking a more defensive stance.

As I play more I'll update this as needed.

Thanks Frontier for a good game, now, let's make it great.

Thanks for reading.

Add the possibility to choose difficulty (hard). The game, as Planet Coaster was, is too easy. We need challenge!

Make the fact that dinos are escaping more significant. I mean, dinos broke fences, go the park, eat some guests, but when you're putting them back in their cages, everything goes back to normal... People died! It has to have a significant impact on your park (money, reputation, enthusiasm...etc).

Upgrade the management part. Again, like Planet Coaster, the management part is quite light. You could/should really upgrade it and make it more complex.

Upgrade the AI of the dinos (but you've already heard that one like a million time I suppose)

I'm not gonna ask more buildings, dinos and research as I suppose that it is already schedule for future DLC (easier to add than my previous remarks).

You should really work on the core code of the game to complexify it. Everything is too simple, too mathematical.

my 5 cents on the game

so this game is super awesome, i started on friday and played 30 hours already.

The issues i have with it are really in the detail.
My biggest issue is building placement, it is super frustrating that it tells you terrain or obstacle but you are most of the time not able to see the porblem.
It would be great if this could be fixed by overlaying the terrain and buildings with a green or red shader like tons of other games do which tell you what is the problem, at the moment you have no clue at all and will do the same error over and over again because they simply does not tell you what it doesn't like.
this is really the most annoying part of the game the building placement, for me the game actually completely fails on this mechanic.

One nice improvement would be if you could see the icons which pop up when you send rangers or helicopters, often times dinos are in the forest and the icons are hidden, these icons should be on top of everything in my opinion.
The same goes for placing roads and fences in a forest, the trees block everything and you are guessing what you do, other game simply display the outline of the object you place if the sight is blocked by another object.

the last thing are the rangers, i do understand to make it attractive to let you jump into the car, but i personally do not like this at all and try to avoid it as much as possible because this is not a game to drive cars or helicopters, i wanna focus on the dinos and manage things and just wanna tell them what to do, so what i find super annoying is if the station does not have power the rangers do not accept tasks, please please change this, there is no reason for a car which runs with gas that it all after sudden does not work any more because the garage has no power, this makes no sense and it always kicks me out of my "flow" i need to stop managing and start doing annoying things when my attention should be on managing.

in the end these are only three things but they really drive me nuts.
sorry if i got too emotional, but i love this game and this is frustrating like crazy.

cheers

AI:
Carnivores should not pick a fight when health bar is too low because it will die.
Best example (Spoiler) the Spinosaurs on Isla Sorna. He fights 1 stegosaurus eats it - has health about 50% - immeditly fighting the next one and dies, also it would make more sense when carnivors pick up a fight when they are hungry or see another carnivor like Spino vs Rexy

Dinosaur/AI Gameplay:

Tall dense grass needed for Raptors (Remember Lost World) a Raptor would never attack out of the open.

Missions & Security/Entertainment/Science Divisions:

Contracts should make more sense. For example why would it improve the security when I research a Genom to 90%? This contract would be more suitable for the Science Division.

Models & animation/AI:
Rework some Animations/behaviors for some Carnivors like Dilophosaurus.
Dilophosaurus is currently acting like a Raptor when attacking a Parasaurolophus.
Also Dilophosaurus should only attack smaller Dinos

Quote:
"Carnivores should interact more with each other. Through sounds or actions. Right now they don’t even do standoffs to figure out who’s the dominant one like it was shown in the T-rex trailer (Which reminds me that T-rex will lose its mind if u put another one into the same exhibit, so changes were made)"

- The dominant one could/should get a raiting boost or something like that.
- And the loser may stay away from the dominant one for a while

Well I'd like to see more of the campaign added. Give some new story or something. I finished everything in under 30hrs. 4 outta 5 parks are 5 stars every dino housed. Guess the next challenge is fitting all the dinos on isla nublar.

Once the indo rex is unlocked and you've got all the Gene's I just get bored repeatedly having him fight anything else i can stir up. Multiple times i tried making a weaker indo and stronger rex but the indo would always get two hits in a row giving him the win. Got boring to watch after the 4th rex lol

I hope we see an aviary option and some aquatic dinosaurs as well. Not sure how that would play out but I have faith.
The game is definitely never completed if you play it right, challenge yourself. Go back and redo an island trying to get 5 stars with only carnivores or herbs, see what social combinations you can get to work. But in the past week I've been playing I'd say I've mostly filled my needs from the game and now itll be something I go to when I'm bored of first person shooters.

From what I read so far, it seems everything I feel should be improved is already mentioned.
Perhaps with one exeption:
It would be helpfull to be able to save 2-3 different genetic blueprints for each dinosaur species!
(One with max lifepan, one with max rating and so on)
These should be selectable right after selecting the wanted species.

I know you already mentioned pronating, but could you add that a option to disable pronating should be present in the game?
Because I like my dinosaurs to be scientically accurate as possible and pronating looks really bad on some dinosaurs.

Bring back some Original JPOG Nostalgia

Sound category: Please bring back/in some of the Jurassic Park soundtracks (eg. Brachiosaurus theme) in gameplay, it would really add to atmosphere. Since the soundtrack is already used in startup screen It shouldnt be too difficult to make it available on gameplay.

Announcement when releasing dinosaurs. In the original operation genesis, the park administrator would announce the release of the dinosaur with some facts about it instead of just the name. I hope they bring it back because it does add a nice element to the game.

Behaviour: Herbivores should flee near carnivores and the herding instinct can be better developed. I would prefer that large carnivores having to whittle down the health of large herbivores before a takedown unlike the immediate takedown of eg. Trex vs Parasaurolophus. Also bringing back resting would be nice.

Sandbox mode: Have a sandbox mode like the old Operation genesis Site B where no buildings need to be built (except hatcheries). No need for feeders and power. Maybe even bring in the possibility of breeding...

THanks!

Hello Forum. Instead of opting to write all things in the wishlist topic, i opted to start writing my own document on things ive noticed in JWE that could use some spice.

>>click me<<

However, this list is not completely conclusive. And i've probably not caught wind of everything thats happened while i was playing. So i wanted to ask the community to comment and write things that you have experienced but do not see in the document. This is supposed to be 100% constructive feedback for Frontier and Frontier alone. This does not entirely fit the wishlist topic so i wanted to start this one instead.

Will you help? I will write in everything as long as its not repetition. New categories can be set up too in case it isnt covered.

Edit:

In case i wasnt clear enough, it is a feedback document for the content that we have now. Frontier doesnt have a dedicated forum place for suggestions, thus the creation of this topic's reason is to have such a place. This way Frontier can gloss over what stuff we suggest for change so that they can perhaps consider it.

we could make it so when you unlock sandbox, it will have everything only in that sandbox, and instead of doing the game over and over to get more sandbox, it will be on the menu screen bellow challenge

I've only just started playing but I'm hooked. So far I wanted to say maybe less Movie quotes on the loading screen and more dino facts. Also a proper list of all the dead dinosaurs would be nice so i could remember the ones I had named.

i have a lot of ideas i would love to see new skins for the jeeps possibly camo and even upgrades to make the jeeps harder to damage or faster response times with engine upgrades but id also LOVE to see a petting zoo among other things

i feel as if this should of been there from the start BUT we need a aquarium for small dino like sea creatures even tho you can find most of them still in the modern world(living fossils)i feel it should be a choice to have
