Just ordered the tobii eyex

Anybody having the same problem?

If I unistall Tobii Services from the control panel and restart ED immediately after the unistall, I get normal frame rate. Well, I can add that uninstalling/re-istalling everything multiple times might fix the frame rate, the issue with the vJoy is more important for me. So no EyeX for me until it is fixed.

Sorry to hear that, it looks like it might be a good bit of kit. It's all down to if it works or not on any given rig, time will tell.
Delivery day is set for tomorrow, but I'm out early morning. Just hope I'll be back in time, or it will be a trip out to collect on Saturday.

Well, I'd say that EyeX is interesting, however, the functionality in my case is underwhelming. Just imagine if installing some drivers would also perform a complete reset of Windows.

EDIT: And I think this pretty much is the answer to my question:
Before Infinite Screen Extension can be used to augment your games, we need to ensure that your games have written their configuration files to your computer. Do this by making sure you have started each game you want to use with Infinite Screen Extension at least once before proceeding. We also recommend that you configure your controllers in the game before you start using Infinite Screen Extension, as any resetting or defaulting of the controller configuration will disable Infinite Screen Extension.

So this definitely makes Tobii EyeX useless for me. Well, TrackIR has proved to be a great solution. As for EyeX it seems like a nice idea with a bad implementation.

EDIT 2: I've performed a simple test with Windows Services. Turning off Tobii Service restores the frame rate to the normal one in borderless and windowed modes, turning it on immediately causes the drop of the frame rate to 20 FPS. Fullscreen mode is not affected.

I ordered mine a week or so ago, so hoping I don't have to wait for the next shipment before it gets sent out, but have a quick question for people who have theirs already.

I play Elite using mouse/keyboard and I am hoping that this will not override my mouse flight controls. anyone playing using this with mouse/keyboard and the eye tracker?

Really hoping I don't have to use a joystick as good ones are pretty expensive.

It will not override the mouse flight controls. it runs using vjoy. virtual joystick. you have to bind it to your head look axis by looking in the direction of the axis. Depending on what way you look you may need to invert axis.

That sounds perfect, thanx for that info now all I need to do is have it turn up :)

The issue with the latest TrackIR software (5.3) is that it drops the VRAM frequency to P2 state from P0. So a workaround is to OC P2 state or modify P2 state frequencies in GPU bios.

EyeX has a more severe issues:
1. It overrides vJoy settings each time you load Windows. This means that if you use vJoy for any other devices - this is no longer possible. It is either EyeX of other devices, you cannot have them both. Or at least I could not find a way to make it working.
2. Tobii Service running drops the frame rate to 20FPS in borderless and windowed modes (Titan X GPU) making ED unplayable in these modes.

Current conclusion: TrackIR is more versatile, the issues are easily solvable, whereas EyeX issues seem to be unsolvable.
you should post this at the tobiis forum see what there take is on that. http://developer.tobii.com/community-forums/
I'm using an AMD GPU and never ran into frame loss with the eye tracker.

Intriguing, but has anyone got any info on whether or not this works with a 32" 4k screen, or if there's a successor in the works that can be used with larger than 27" screen sizes? I plan to upgrade to 4k soon-ish and wouldn't want to quit using the EyeX because of it.

As much as I love my EDTracker and the headphones, sometimes it's got to be regular speakers.

on my 42" screen the max distance before the eye tracker cannot track me is about 75cm/29.52 inchs.

I ordered on January 26th and tracking number was e-mailed to me February 4th. After being told shipping could take up to 3 weeks when I initially placed the order.

Maybe it's not that bad we have to wait until it's available again. This leaves some time for the issues to be analysed and hopefully fixed.
vJoy isn't much of an issue for me. I did set it up for my HOTAS but am not using it because I got used to the HOTAS. :p

I am not going to bother with finding a solution to a frame rate issue until there is a solution to vJoy issue. There is a workaround to the former issue, whereas the latter issue seems to be unsolvable.

Most of the players using HOTAS with rudder pedals are going to come across this issue. There is only one application that allows to merge joystick axes (in particular I am speaking of toe brake axes) and it is called Universal Joystick Remapper. In order to work it requires vJoy. However, as soon as I start modifying vJoy settings EyeX ingame tracking stops functioning but I can use rudder pedals. After restarting Windows EyeX overrides vJoy settings and so it starts functioning again, however, rudder pedal settings are lost. And you cannot have them both.

I just ordered one of these yesterday. I am not sure if my machine has the right USB ports? It is a brand new high spec gaming laptop. Omen http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-omen-gaming-laptop/

Do you think I will have issues running the Tobii?

Press your windows key then type 'device manager' [Enter]

Expand the USB section (Shown Below)
Screenshot 2016-02-05 07.58.38.png

If your USB 3 is a ASMedia (Like Mine) then you need to get a USB3 PCIe card - Example - Lycom UB-114i 2 Port USB3.0 (NEC) xHCI Mobo Internal connector Via Low Profile PCIe x1 Card

As you have a laptop - Then you will need a Express Card type, depends on laptop, if no slot... umm I'd have to look into it

Thanks for the response!
I use a X52 Pro and CH Pro Pedals. I did combine both toe brakes to one axis to be able to use it in Elite, this is done via CH Control Manager Software. No sure here if either Saitek Profiler or CH Control Manager use vJoy though. Like I said I have vJoy installed, tried it but I don't use it.

Saitek software does not allow you to merge axes.
