Just wasted 2 1/2 hours moving ships

I've been busy and haven't been able to play properly for a couple of weeks. I wanted to pop on and try the beta properly but due to the recent changes I wanted to sort my current ships out and move them to a different station before 1.3 drops (in case it drops tomorrow).

I've spent the last 2 1/2 hours to move my 3 ships to one location. I've had to buy a hauler, kit it out (using the badly designed outfitting UI), fly it 3-600 ly to my other ship, sell all modules on hauler then sell hauler, grab new ship, refit that for travel and then return. I did this 3 times in a row.

This isn't fun and engaging gameplay. I've barely looked up from my phone except to dock a few times and pull back on my stick to fuel scoop around a star.

This is supposed to be a fun game and I'm all for realism for the distances but in this case I felt like I was being punished by bad design and unfinished mechanics. I had to spend my free time for playing the game micro managing my in game items because of the 10% module change coming in and the inability to click a button, pay a fee and have the game move my ship. Even if it took the same in game time for my ship to be moved for me or longer I could atleast be doing something more constructive with my time like playing the game with a different ship.

So instead of getting one of the most widely requested features (moving ships) we're getting one that punishes players instead (10%) and as a side effect I've wasted my evening. If I had waited til 1.3 dropped it probably would have cost me a few mil to do this as well as wasting hours of my free time due to refitting costs for jump range and fuel scoops.

I'm not against the 10% change IF they allow us to store modules, another widely requested feature. I think it's pointless introducing a new "feature" if it's half just like 1.2 when they almost added in marked cargo without the ability to unmark it.

I don't usually rant and I love the game but FD better start taking a look at fixing some of the half finished parts of the game before slapping in new stuff. From my limited time on the beta I'm not impressed with powerplay and with my experiences tonight I've really been put off playing the game.

Here Here, have some chocolate. You will feel better. I am against the 10% charge also. I think it is ignorant. These are not new parts, they are used anyway..

I understand how you feel, I know many who have felt the same… most of them found something else to play that made them happier.

3 hours... Every time I move my whole fleet, it took me about 8-12 hours, and I have done it twice....

It's a choice you make, nobody is forcing you to move ships...

Surely you could have earned more credits in two and a half hours than you could have "saved" selling unwanted gear at full price?

Yup, it seems strange to implement an isolated mechanic like 10% sell fee without implementing module storage or ship movement at the same time :S
.
I'd also like to see a taxi service so the game (or another player) could move my CMDR and then I could fly my ship back myself!

If only you could rent an Orca to move CMDR's between stations, or sit in another players ship whilst they flew you to another station for a fee.

who held the gun to your head and made you buy all the ships in the first place? Or are you just venting that your inefficient game playing style has led to poor decisions?

That would be awsome! I would even love to sit in the Orca the whole travel. Oh, and it could get interd... enough! :)

I stopped moving ships around. They are all at most 160ly apart anyway, I just go get the one I want with the one I'm in. Got used to it.

The main point was about the ship moving, 1.3 and the 10% change made me want to relocate my ships since when powerplay comes out it's not going to be as easy to move around inhabited space any more. I rarely play for credits any more as I "did my time" grinding up to an anaconda via trading.

I've spent the last couple of months purely playing for fun through piracy and other things and this was a real slap back to the reality of how much some things in the game feel like work rather than fun.

Another eye opener was that I decided to play in mobius for the first time and didn't see another player in all that time even though I was in lots on systems that are normally quite busy in open play.

I bought a conda and python in Zaonce for the discounts which is logical in the long run. I spend most of my time in Empire space and due to powerplay coming in it made sense to move my ships now.

Curious to know how or what others are doing in preparation for this upcoming 1.3. Granted im new to this whole community, but ive read so much through the forums i decided to start preparing my self in a similar fashion. However i dont have so much invested into this game just yet for it to be such a headache. Though im making a trek across the universe to set up home base in a faction i think i will be comfortable with when new politics take place before i decide to invest in making more purchases.

I just did the same thing. Just moved all my ships to one station. Sorry to anyone left who can't get a parking spot where my ships are.

It was time to consolidate anyway, and after beta testing, it looks like the best way to go while the dust settles post 1.3 upgrade.

I stripped all the ships down to the rivets and intend to go exploring for an extended journey.

For entertainment, i'll just read the forums post release. If pre-release forum posts are any measure, post-release should take things to a whole new level. definitely worth the price of admission.

If you look at the positives, youve had months of free outfiting changes when it should have cost 10%.

People are crying about this, but if it was like that from the start people would have just accepted it as the way it is, now people are getting upset because its like some extra charge they never had to pay.

Get used to it is my suggestion.

I think the point here though ste (and I agree that the 10% penalty should always have been in the game) is that in order for it to be workable there should be some kind of storage or some kind of taxi service in the game as well.

The design documents call for the ability to move ships (and components, imagine that) to your current system from another one for a cost in credits and time. It's indeed something that's needed. I spent a lot of time flying ships 200 ly to pick up new shield tech only to fly them back to my home base. That's a lot of light years.

Selling off my non-discounted armors, nets me 300+M liquid credit from that alone. I also remove many of my turrets. I also review and "finalize" my ships' loadout & purpose so I minimize the 10% penalty when it comes.

I'm probably going to end up moving my ships, but only because the 'base' I have them parked in will be owned by a power opposed to the one I'll pledge with. That should be fun, with at least 5 ships parked in the garage, and close to 200 LY to move them to be closer Imperial space. :(

Cool, fight your way out...Epic

Because it destroys playstyles that were, up until this change, completely valid. Now a bunch of people have to change the way they play the game for "reasons". This 10% tax doesn't add anything to the game, it just punishes people who don't have tons of money and a varied shipyard.

I'm just glad i already have all the ships I need to continue playing as I have. Feel bad for those that don't have 700 million though.
