Just wasted 2 1/2 hours moving ships

I'm probably going to end up moving my ships, but only because the 'base' I have them parked in will be owned by a power opposed to the one I'll pledge with. That should be fun, with at least 5 ships parked in the garage, and close to 200 LY to move them to be closer Imperial space. :(
All my ships are in Shinrarta, the system is surrounded by Feds.... While if I join a power, it will be empire. Fun.

I am all for updates & such, but would like some kind of time table as to when the things a lot of us are waiting on & have prepaid for are coming. Like multi crew (walking around the ship as well as planet landings & yes fps) I know there are a few that are not interested in this but lets keep in mind these are the updates that some of us prepaid for & it would go a long way to strengthen the companies image & credibility. Love the game but am waiting for rest of what was sold to us.

It's a smart move if anyone plans on joining a PP faction.

Pity the fool who parked half their ships behind enemy lines once they aggro on sight.

Agreed we have needed some sort of automated ship relocation.

Agreed we need a Module store option and to me this should of been in place before the -10% sell back.

I have basically stripped down my combat Annie to a trade runner, doing this in 1.3 would have cost me 65mil to do and thats a huge kick in the ..... , not to mention the 23mil i would of lost turning the Tank Python into a BH and mission Python. Sold off the rest of my ships till i decide what im doing in 1.3 but in all honesty 1.3 is looking like a grindfest.

I don't mind the 10% hit, honestly, though I would certainly appreciate it if my ship could be moved without me having to manually do it. Pay fee. Wait x time. Big cargo ship arrives at station X and ship is placed in a hangar.

I suspect what is missing for this, though, is a big bad cargo vessel capable of carrying multiple Anaconda and T-9 sized ships.

Would make it interesting if it could actually be attacked, disabled, defended etc.. Though Im getting ahead of myself now.

I'd love to be able to have my ships sent to a station of my choice, and modules stored, would make life more fun. And I'd have a reason to fly my Cobra again. Can't be bothered making the 200Ly trip to grab it, at the moment...

I just mentally synchronised those words with your avatar. Very amusing.

Being able to store modules as cargo is a must now players have the 10% deduction. Should have Been an option since day one considering FD have always said you can have multiple ships, why not multiple modules to be used across multiple ships?

I moved all of my ships to Jameson after I got the permit so I know what it's like to move a fleet. Not fun.
im also going to prep my fleet for the module change assuming they are stupid enough to put that in the live build.

I agree with the moving ships thing - it is something I've wished for myself. You could even do instantaneous moves without 'break the lore' - you just need to be able to sell you ships from anywhere. Then you could sell your Viper that is 200ly away and rebuy the same spec locally. I'd even pay a fee for this.

There are other things you should be able to do remotely too - like turn in 'local' bounties. Then you don't have to make that special trip just to get it off your list. Again, make the 'agents' take a % fee - you'd save that in fuel and ing-around time.

@OP, i know that feels. it took me 5 hours.
I would pay good money for ship transport service and module storage/ hangar rental fee. Anyway i'm not against 10% reduction value for reselling modules, but not pushing module storage out together with this change is short-sighted imo.

@OP, while I was picking on you with my earlier post, I do understand. I have multiple ships too and have to decide if I want to sell off my type-9 or strip it now and just fly my Clipper. I understand the 10% fee, but wish they would allow you to store modules, as a battle cow is expensive to return to a space cow at 10%.

Maybe we'll get taxi ships once passenger missions arrive - so soon :p

Also you didn't need to move your ships this minute - you're not forced to pledge the moment 1.3 drops!

You should be able to hire someone to do it for you.

Hire cheap, you get a Mostly Harmless n00b and run a high risk of losing your ship if it gets set upon by bandits.

The more you pay the more experienced the pilot, the lower the risk of ship loss, expensive damage, or even cargo loss if you left it loaded.

Not that I'm suggesting buying a hold full of contraband and then hiring a Deadly pilot to be your mule...

The main point was about the ship moving, 1.3 and the 10% change made me want to relocate my ships since when powerplay comes out it's not going to be as easy to move around inhabited space any more. I rarely play for credits any more as I "did my time" grinding up to an anaconda via trading.

I've spent the last couple of months purely playing for fun through piracy and other things and this was a real slap back to the reality of how much some things in the game feel like work rather than fun.

Another eye opener was that I decided to play in mobius for the first time and didn't see another player in all that time even though I was in lots on systems that are normally quite busy in open play.

I bought a conda and python in Zaonce for the discounts which is logical in the long run. I spend most of my time in Empire space and due to powerplay coming in it made sense to move my ships now.

Ah, yes, that HOSTILE mechanic! Forgot about that.

If this was a mechanic ED would be the best game in history xD.
I think having commanders move your ships would be amazing. Not only would it be convenient but it would add a world of depth to the trader/courier role. You could have the other commander pay an insurance fee if they lost the ship, so the risk would be potentially high but could pay well too.

Why are your ships 3-600 LY apart? Seem more like a personnal problem than a fault with the game.
I buy all my ship a close as possible to my base to avoid this problem.

Just my 2 cent worth of rant...begin rant:

What is this the dark ages? Is it not like 3300 something? No one ever heard of a taxi service. I mean come on, I am sure Yellow Cab has got to be around still and what about all those high and mighty Fed senators and presidents or those Elitist lords and barons of the Empire? I am sure their just being shuttle around in the lap of luxury in their nice little space yachts from system to system. What about us little guys? No taxis, no rent a limo, nothing.

End rant:

Man I feel a little better now:)

I've been busy and haven't been able to play properly for a couple of weeks. I wanted to pop on and try the beta properly but due to the recent changes I wanted to sort my current ships out and move them to a different station before 1.3 drops (in case it drops tomorrow).

I've spent the last 2 1/2 hours to move my 3 ships to one location. I've had to buy a hauler, kit it out (using the badly designed outfitting UI), fly it 3-600 ly to my other ship, sell all modules on hauler then sell hauler, grab new ship, refit that for travel and then return. I did this 3 times in a row.

This isn't fun and engaging gameplay. I've barely looked up from my phone except to dock a few times and pull back on my stick to fuel scoop around a star.

This is supposed to be a fun game and I'm all for realism for the distances but in this case I felt like I was being punished by bad design and unfinished mechanics. I had to spend my free time for playing the game micro managing my in game items because of the 10% module change coming in and the inability to click a button, pay a fee and have the game move my ship. Even if it took the same in game time for my ship to be moved for me or longer I could atleast be doing something more constructive with my time like playing the game with a different ship.

So instead of getting one of the most widely requested features (moving ships) we're getting one that punishes players instead (10%) and as a side effect I've wasted my evening. If I had waited til 1.3 dropped it probably would have cost me a few mil to do this as well as wasting hours of my free time due to refitting costs for jump range and fuel scoops.

I'm not against the 10% change IF they allow us to store modules, another widely requested feature. I think it's pointless introducing a new "feature" if it's half just like 1.2 when they almost added in marked cargo without the ability to unmark it.

I don't usually rant and I love the game but FD better start taking a look at fixing some of the half finished parts of the game before slapping in new stuff. From my limited time on the beta I'm not impressed with powerplay and with my experiences tonight I've really been put off playing the game.

Agreed , its dumb, with all these NPC ships, randomly appearing ( not going anywhere from anywhere) at RES & Nav points, with no support, ( ie Carriers ) to refuel or rearm those ships and NO support for Player ships to be towed by you or moved to another destination by a hired NPC pilot, or even a Player set missions "move my ship" , a persistent universe that makes sense, ED is not.

How about a mechanic where you buy a ticket to a station where you have a ship parked before you log out. After a reasonable time based on distance traveled, when you log back in, you're at that station in the last ship you used there?
