Kauruk Lockdown - Who's responsible?

Nah if I have to hear frame shift drive charging one more time I am going to scream.
I am taking a break till Q1 see if it is better otherwise shifting focus.
Everyone I played with have either quit or are taking a break now anyway and a game is best enjoyed shared.
If you are in the CG station, just take a break for a couple of days and the lockdown will be over.

I disagree. Part of the richness of games like ED is that they allow the players to express things that are important to them.

Just look at the power of the memorial events for the death of Sean "Vile Rat" Smith in Eve Online.

I wouldn't want special rules imposed by the devs for memorials or charity events but they shouldn't be banned either. If you choose to undertake an event in game that has special meaning for you then you need to accept the consequences of doing it in game.

The idea that such events "emotionally blackmail" players into behaving a certain way is ludicrous. This is a multiplayer game (even in Solo mode) so you cannot get away from the fact that your actions impact on other people. Every individual is making choices about their own behaviour that will impact on others. Your actions will be judged by others and they will form opinions about you.

Players are free to gank newbies, target charity events, annoy PvPers using the 15 second logout or disrupt remembrance events, if they so choose, and others will form opinions regarding their behaviour. If you feel guilt and decide not to act a certain way or simply don't care about your impact on others and what others think of you then that is your choice. You may feel that people judge you unfairly about the choices you make, and many will truly misunderstand you, but that's common to all social interaction. Asking for the like of memorial events to be removed from the game is asking for players to be protected from making complex decisions and living with the consequences in a social game. It's saying: Please FD, don't tempt us with content where I feel conflicted because I might look bad to others if I behave a certain way. I personally don't want an anaemic game that mollycoddles it's players so they can never be the bad guys or face the social consequences if they choose to be so.

I am remembering somebody with this event. I'm doing it by trying to lift the lockdown in Kauruk to enable others to take part in the CG proper. The action fits rather well the person I'm celebrating, so in a way, I guess I have the lockdown to thank for that. And I accept that the imposing the lockdown is completely valid player behaviour. It doesn't mean I haven't formed a judgement about the character of those who have tried to disrupt a Remembrance CG. They made their choice and will be judged on it. I've made mine and others can judge me on my actions and words.

I know there are lots of players who hate this stuff imposing on their fantasies. So enough on the moral consequences of our actions stuff. Anyone else up for lifting this damn lockdown?

I think we shall have to agree to disagree. I'd like to point out that I'm not heartless but I just dont think its appropriate to have the game turn into a weekly funeral service or obituary recital.

Some time back someone had a funeral in this game, I'll show you the vid here: https://youtu.be/IbTAPDM38lc

It was rather touching, and demonstrates the depth of feeling within the community, but as I said it was a private affair, and certainly no CG, the latest of which ends up with a mudslinging event, and I really dont think its fair to impose folks feeling of loss from real life in game on other players.

I don't wish to be insensitive, and perhaps a touchy topic, but I've come to the conclusion this sort of thing shouldnt have a place in this game. For one its not entirely fair to expect folks who've bought a computer game to continually have to tippy toe around the game incase it upsets someones eulogy or remembrance event. It should go without saying that I offer condolences to folks who've lost people in life, I know the feeling all too well, but if stuff like this is carried out in game it really should be a private affair and one that doesnt emotionally blackmail or guilt others into behaving a certain way.

Oh that is fine, I just mean, it just seems odd to dislike CG A for story A, so protest at CG B
What A & B are doesn't matter.

*edit*

Assuming it is a protest, since that the claim on Reddit that it was a protest is called into question by the timing of the lockdown

Yeah - I didn't think Lockdowns could have a 0-day pending block either (though I can't find the list of state timings right now to confirm). On the other hand, the Journal has been reliable about pending states any time I've confirmed, and there's no inconsistency in the EDDN Journal transmissions... Very strange.

TMK states can go pending without going active because of circumstance and can even be canceled, But from all my BGS experience, There will always be a pending state.
The lockdown went active on the tick of Friday 11.30 IGT, So I would have to concur with Trent that it went pending on Thursday, 4 hours before the CG was announced.

Or, you know, he could help break the lockdown. All I'm saying is, many hands make light work (and I can say from experience it's fun).

YEah well, I thought of doing that, so I paid to transfer a ship to help bounty hunt. Only to find out I can't transfer to it because it doesn't have enough cargo space to hold all the rare's I'm carrying. For some reason I thought the cargo would stay with the ship. Silly me.

Just as well, wouldn't want to bounty hunt with 90 something tons of rares on me. Guess I'll just sit in station a while.

Just noticed the middle section of starport services contains starport news lol.

Anyway.... (15th October)

-Bounties issued: 57,078,064 credits.
-Bounties claimed: 67,057,741credits (by 2227 people)

I think we are winning boys.

That's fair enough. It was not my intention to impinge on your character or to suggest that you are heartless. The post of yours that I responded to was thought provoking and prompted me to respond as I did.

I agree that we don't want public memorial events every week. However, the text for this CG references a similar event a year ago and talks of an annual remembrance week. I don't see it as much of an imposition to have such a communal event once a year, especially when there are other activities, indeed another CG, for those who do not want to take part.

So, with respect, I think we will have to disagree.

Issued 57078064
Claimed 2227 totaling 67057741

At least a couple of million of those are mine.

I've been having pretty good success at the nav beacon with my Asp Explorer mission runner. It helps to have decent range on your scanner so you can cycle through and identify targets efficiently. Lots of smaller ships with <10k bounties, a good number of pesky Asp and DB Scouts and a few bigger fish with >100k bounties.

I'm still not sure if quantity or value of bounties is the most important factor.

I've moved down Bunny, my big ship eating Vulture with G5 double shot Pacifier frags, to take on the heavy wings in the USSs. Not sure if it's the way to go though.

well this is a nice way for ,e to join the forums, having my fun killed by some UA bombing the station :/
It wasn't UA bombing (in itself a perfectly legit tactic), But the killing of authority ships that would have occurred the day before the CG started. An unfortunate case of bad timing.
