News Kerbal Space Program 2 announced for 2020.

Oh. Oh wow. I'm so excited. Very unexpected o_O
This has to be one of the most beautiful trailers I've ever seen. It's still simplistic and stylized just like the game, but it's just so pretty for some reason. And that music. Genuinely gave me chills.
Only one small concern - since they are working with a big publisher now there is a chance for them to mess something up... Apart from that - I just can't wait. Really hope they get their engine in order, and then it can be perfection.

Edit. There are few screenshots on Steam. If they are to be believed it looks like KSP, but sharper, better lit, with some pretty effects.

So... Are they going to finish the first one?
Or are they planning to have two eternal early access games side by side?

(the trailer is epic as hell, though)

I hope they fix their engine for the second one, since it seems like it has limitations. I wouldn't call first game unfinished, since for what it is it's a lot of game already. Probably some of the DLC content should've just been in the game, but that's publishers for you...

From what admins said on the forum - its still Unity.

Awesome trailer. Very much looking forward to that!

As for the first one being unfinished - it certainly does still have some issues, that's for sure. As Caramel Clown says, though, it's a lot of game already. Some of the physics of the space planes were giving me fits the last time I played. Some of that could well be me just not designing stuff correctly, I don't know. (I was following YouTube tutorials though).

You really have to use external resources to get anywhere in KSP, so hopefully they'll design something you can play without having to devote tons of time watching Scott Manly play just so you know what the heck you're doing.

Yea, that is worrying. While they still improved performance greatly you are very much limited when it comes to part count. Hoping they will work more on the engine. When you are a beginner in KSP performance isn't an issue, but once those massive orbital hubs you will inevitably build start rolling in any system will be brought down on it's knees.

So this is a new developer taking the reigns it seems. It'll be StarTheory Games' first title, although several of the devs have some successful games under their belt from before. Squad, the dev of KSP 1, have a few people helping but seem to be keeping focused on their own game.

To be fair at this moment I know nothing about the new KSP actual content/game play but I`m slightly worry. Huge publisher and new developer - why would they be making game for niche audience. They gonna try IMO get to more broad audience by a: making the game less complex (bad scenario), b: making it more accessible and noob friendly (good scenario).
Since they still using Unity, why not updating current version? Due to recent "fall" of gaming industry standard/quality I probably see issues where there are non yet lol, in any case I always can play my HEAVY modded KSP am I right?

It reeks of franchise milking. They just need to figure out how to monetise the crap out of it and I fully expect them to try just that.

Hm. I can't help but notice that all the highlighted features have been added by mods already. Playing it safe, I guess? The only thing I'm looking forward to is that they claim to have better modding support than the original, but we'll see if that holds up to be true. Hopefully the total rewrite would come with better performance too.
If those turned out to be true, then I think KSP 2 could be very good. But if not, then I guess it's KSP 1.5 at best, with prettier graphics.

Heh.

"NOT ACTUAL GAMEPLAY". Lol, wonder how much biowaste will it receive compared to Elite´s launch trailer? :p

Looking forward to play this though.
Butterflies? Did I see some butterflies in there? I think I did. I demand they have it in the release or else!!!
