Keyboard and HOTAS Reference Sheet Generator

Sir, you are a star!

I've been commenting .pdf files every time I updated my keybinds, and recently got into a pickle where a change of editor nixed my comments so they wouldn't print out properly. Thought I'd have to re-comment the lot, but in the interim was just browsing the EDCodex site and came across this tool. Input my .binds file and spat out the printable sheet - thankyou for your efforts.

(My binds file is https://www.mcdee.net/elite/binds/zfusqa for anyone interested - 3 modifiers giving me pretty much all I need :)

Thanks,
Shorn.

I'm having an issue with the binding generator. After setting up my 360 controller for use in the SRV I generated a new bindings sheet using your wonderful tool. It seems to be getting the keyboard bindings and my X-52 bindings fine, however when it generates the 360 bindings, instead of showing, say, "SRV Primary Fire", its showing "Modifier 4". Also, it shows 2 360 pictures, one blank, one with the "Modifier X" keys.

It seems to only do the "Modifier" thing for the digital controls, all the analog controls are listed correctly.

Here's the link to my binding sheet:

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a problem with my bindings file? Thanks!!!

Nevermind. Something must have been screwy with my binds file, its working fine now!

Small suggestion, an option for the keyboard bindings to be shown on a QWERTY Keyboard layout instead of a list. Not sure if that's possible, but I'm throwing it out there anyway. Thanks!!!

Your buttons are showing up as Joy_1 Joy_2 etc. rather than Pad_Y Pad_B etc. No idea why, you're probably mapping it through some software that translates it. This is also why it's showing up twice.

Been away a while and just seen this tool for the first time, really useful and easy to use.

I do however have a couple of suggestions,
Firstly, instead of producing a single graphic file for everything, produce a sepearte image for the HOTAS, Joypad and the keyboard. This should allow easier printing.

Secondly, if you could just upload a file in the correct format (CSV?) (listing the buttons and the required text) to this program, you could use it for any game to produce a personalized keymap for your HOTAS or Joypad. This would be great for things like DCS World or any other program that tries to bury you under lists of buttons. This might require you to first download a layout file from your site and then fill in the information to appear next to each button in Notepad+ or similar.

It actually does. If you right click and save as over each controller/HOTAS and the keyboard list, you will see it is actually in separate image files.

The process is quite bound to Elite: using their names for HOTAS controls, categorising the controls, and providing translations from the function name. Although this could be made generic it isn't something that I'm looking to do at the moment.

Jgm, on the hotas subreddit /u/bezdi posted an alternate sheet for the thrustmaster FCS, just in case you want to use it (https://www.reddit.com/r/hotas/comments/5myikh/thrustmaster_t16000m_fcs_hotas_configuration_sheet/):

Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately, I can't check until Friday when I get back home from work, but I will check the moment I get home!

Loving this utility!

But Im finding as I change the binding of my CH Fighterstick / Throttle and Pedals the new binding info is ADDED to the OLD info on the configuration sheet. But ED has no issue interpreting those new bindings correctly.

I tried up loading a image of it from my Mac (jpg and png) but the site said they were not valid images.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Each run of the reference generator is standalone, it has no memory of what you have provided before and works purely from the binds file provided.

Note that Elite allows two separate bindings for each control, so it's possible that you are assigning two different buttons to the same control and that's what the reference sheet is showing. Do you have a binds reference where you can highlight a particular issue so that I can take a look at it?
