Keyboard and HOTAS Reference Sheet Generator

Perhaps I am not explaining clearly. The X52 Pro has, on the throttle, a mouse stick, a left mouse button (M1) and a combined right mouse button and mouse scroll wheel (M2). These are shown on the generated diagram. If you refer to refcard https://edrefcard.info/binds/rizmjk you will see M2 annotated but on this refcard https://edrefcard.info/binds/krxnxr where the M2 assignment is different there are no references on the diagram. If you download the 2 refcards and a run a diff on them you'll see what the assignments are. In both cases M1 which is assigned to 'reset headlock' is not annotated on the diagram.

I see. I'll take another look. If the X52 is truly emulating a mouse (i.e. not to buttons against its own device ID) then I'm not sure how I'll be able to distinguish it from bindings to the real mouse. We'll see.

Internal Server Error

When a choose a .binds file in https://www.mcdee.net/elite/ and push the "Generate reference sheet" button I always received the following error message:

"Internal Server Error

"Unknown controller" addition request - vtiwfi

Unknown controller detected

You have a device that is not supported at this time. Please report details of your device by following the link at the bottom of this page supplying the reference "vtiwfi" and we will attempt to add support for it.

Reference: vtiwfi

The "unknown controller" is Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP Wheel (I am using the accelerator and brake pedals - set as a combined axis - for forward/back thrust).

First of all - amazing tool, thank you. Used it a lot 2016 when you released it. I'm coming back to Elite after a year, and with an upgraded rig and a dual T16000m setup. Unfortunately the tool doesnt support my setup? :(
So, I sat down and recreated a reference sheet for my T16000m HOSAS for all you dual joystick fans. Happy yo suppoy TARGET profile and custom.binds for those interested.

Thanks! The thing is, TARGET combines your physical controllers into a single virtual controller and so supporting it would mean parsing all the TARGET mappings back to the physical devices, which is a great deal of work. I'm a Thrustmaster FCS HOTAS user myself yet I took one look at TARGET and I was just #nope.

Dual stick without TARGET is interesting however. I would be interested to see how ED writes the binds file for two devices with the same ID codes and distinguishes between them.

PSA: if your config name is "spammy" it may at my discretion be deleted without notice.

I'm looking at you in particular, configs "-------", "---------------", "-----------------------------114" and "-----------------------------265".

I've had a look at https://edrefcard.info/list and it isn't too bad. However I'm considering a minor form of curation whereby the game's default configs plus certain other widely accepted ones at my discretion get a certain reserved prefix that sorts to the top.

Thoughts welcomed.

Saved "hruzek" for the VKB Gunfighter Mk. II with MCG grip. (and an X55 throttle) Would love to see it supported in the future!

great, thanks for this. I have a sidewinder precision 2 joystick, did you want the hw config file for this? I'm not bother by not having it but if you want it for completeness..

also, I have a US kbd and have the turret on the SRV bound to the quote mark, very top let of the kbd below escape, it is displayed as a #

a minor le and no bother at all.

thanks again.

I noticed on your website the following paragraph.

If you leave the box below checked then others can obtain a copy of your custom binds, and your reference sheets will contain the relevant URL for them to do so. If you uncheck the box then no such URL will be published. Make these bindings available to everyone.

It sounds from that quote that you are probably using the old mcdee.net site. That site has long since been handed over to https://edrefcard.info/.

So, where are the "bindings available to everyone"?

At https://edrefcard.info/list.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Commander, I look forward to seeing where this goes. As you will have seen, EDRefCard is not curated so the full listing is a bit noisy. I have debated purging some of the more garbage names, such as the ones forcing their way to the top of the list with all dashes, but have help off so far.

I've been scouring through this forum. is there a way to generate a blank reference card for a particular controller? eg: i'd like to create a blank page for the x56 binds. is there a way to do that?

Yes but it's an unsupported endpoint that is subject to change without notice, also all the blocks are filled green for some reason, I think because jgm would use it to ask people submitting new devices to "fill in the green blocks".

https://edrefcard.info/scripts/bindings.py?blocks=SaitekX56

...where instead of "SaitekX56" you can use any supported device ID. Again these are subject to change without notice.

My right hand controller is a Microsoft Force feedback 2 sidewinder. Not sure how to search through this thread for that, but there you are. Edit: there's like..9 of us!

Also my left hand joystick (T16000m) is in Left hand mode, so the number 11-16 and 5-10 are on the wrong sides (not that it matters that much, but thought it should be noted)
