Lack of doom and gloom is disappointing

Agreed. It make the Nav beacon more important which in my view is a good thing.

Nah, too many are complaining now of the great danger in dropping into the Nav Beacon instance to scan it. It is a safe bet that FD will wilt under the pressure and one of two things will happen:

(1) The initial honk will 'read' the Nav Beacon and populate the system map with the bare bones information

or

(2) You can fly towards the Nav Beacon USS and read it whilst still in SC.

I too have concerns about this rework as it will take longer to do the ADS phase both during exploration / uss / cz detection. It may may well all be fine, we'll see in the beta. Little point in bashing people for having concerns, like ppl did with normonsta.

Flame away!

The end is nigh... The game is nothing but finished... Maybe we can get at least a last bit of fun out of this game, while it continues to die over the next 5 or 6 years.

Hype and blind faith are just as misguided as doom and gloom.
There is plenty of both around here.
And threadstarters with no other purpose than to dispense sarcasm are sure to only add poison to this place.
There are nowhere near as many doom and gloom threads/posts as some want us to believe, it is just a convenient way to try and gag or disqualify any sort of criticism as doom and gloom.
Quite gross to observe really.

Thank you. Exactly. Frankly I wonder why the moderators allow all these sarcastic new threads (and replies) that make fun of the "doom" threads while making no contribution.

At least the soon threads are communicating something, not just clogging the forum with fanboyish sarcasm.

The mods allow these threads for exactly the same reason they allow threads calling the game dead, those threads saying another game is far superior to ED, the threads calling FD incompetent, the threads calling for Open Only, etc etc etc. If you want one type of thread modified because it goes against your paradigm of the game, then we might as well close the forums because every thread will annoy someone!

No orrery - game is doomed!

Tho' I have to admit, reading that planned update I felt a sliver of hope in my heart - darn Fdev for fanning that dying ember in me, plus that scanning screen doesn't look a million miles away from what an orrery could be... (and well done on the persistent USS thing).

Doomed I tells ya...

You don't understand. If I write that Elite is dead to me and I am moving to NMS for reason X and Y, I am *saying something*. You might not like it, but it's some content.

On the other hand, if I start a thread writing a scarcastic post making fun of those unsatisfied with the game, I'm not saying anything and I am merely trolling.

The job of moderators is to minimise trolling.

I'm currently wondering how FDev will screw up mining.

Looks like they are going to kill BGS gameplay and make the already broken mission system even worse by effectively reducing the missions in populated systems.
Nav Beacons will get turned into kill zones and explorers will have to play blind sitting ducks. Guess the best part of exploration gameplay is blowing up even easier targets…
SRVs just got mandatory for explorers - in the best case scenario, in the worst case scenario explorers will have to pile up materials only obtainable by blowing up ships in the bubble.

Everything is fine.
Nice parody, almost thought you are serious.

In translation, I'm going to have to rework the loadouts, and compromises of around 50 ships I just got happy with ;)

Why does development seem to always have to go backwards in some respect?

'Backwards'? How? And why should it be relevant to anyone if you feel the need to reoutfit 50 different ships? I don't believe that anyone cares about what you are doing with your free time and I don't really get why you want to blame Frontier for your bad decisions.

Why does development seem to always have to go backwards in some respect?

Because designers don't play their own game and don't grasp the implications of their design decisions.

Oh and: game is ded. Move on. (am I doing this right Babelfish?)

Oh I understand. You would prefer it if only critical posts are allowed, no matter how inaccurate, misleading or just plain wrong they are, but anyone who supports the game can't voice it, even if that voice is sarcastic.

As for your example of you posting that you are moving to NMS for reasons X and Y, why do you feel the community needs to know? Will the community change your decision, will the community care you made that decision, do you are what the Community thinks of your decision? Nearly all of those posts were trolling, just an opportunity for someone to have a rant about deficiencies they perceive in ED. Being honest here, I would ascertain most don't care if you played NMS, we will just continue playing ED and enjoying it.

Lack of doom and gloom is disappointing

You know what this all means?

It means that some of the people on this forum, who are more often than not stigmatized as crybabies, whiners or self-entitled, are actually sensible enough to give FDEV credit where credit is due. And by extension, it could also mean that, when they do criticize, it's probably for a good reason.

The basic difference between argued opinion and sarcastic parody keeps eluding you. Whatever.

I am not making fun of the doom threads and it isn't even sarcasm to begin with. Guess you need to look up the definition of it.
I am noticing a lack of doom threads.

You still don't know what the term sarcasm means. This thread isn't sarcastic. It's an observation about the lack of doom threads and I am 100% serious about it. I expected more doom threads. And yet you call me a troll and fanboy which is quite the irony.

At least the soon threads are communicating something,

Nice typo - we have had a few soon™ threads recently ;)

Doom threads on the other hand are as useless as golden-sunny-future threads. There are questions that need answering, but it would take a lot to doom the game before it comes to a natural end.

That really depends on who you are talking about. In any case, that's not news to me but thanks for your contribution.
(Hint: I do know that some people critize the game for good reasons since I am one of them)

So all your posts in this thread weren't serious but just a parody? Thank god, I almost thought you are a plonker.
