Large Pad ships should be able to access outposts...for missions.

Should ships that require a large landing pad be allowed to access outposts to use only the mission

I'd like to use a SLF to dock at a outpost.
Why? Beyond changing paint jobs and maybe weapons, SLF have no cargo space and come with stock equipment.

It's like docking an SRV at a planet base. What would you want to accomplish?

Can't vote because I'm conflicted. There's a point to having limits on big ships, so No, but the game really doesn't let you cart around a second ship with you as NPC wingie and leave your big ship in orbit and safe,so once you bought a large ship, you're stuck in it and so Yes.

And THAT is why it is failed. lol What is popular is cmdrs using small and medium ships. NOT large ones, especially not the big 3. You are basically pouring salt into an open wound. It is not easy ranking up to get these large ships or getting the credits to purchase them AND outfit them. Those of us with the big 3 would jump at ANY chance to access outposts via docking with them or accessing the mission board without docking. So the vote for large ship owners would be "yes" and the vote for large ship haters would be "no"

I have an Anaconda and I voted NO so your reasoning is false. Every ship has an opportunity cost. That's what makes the ships different from each other.

And when a guy like Oderus Urungus starts talking opportunity cost, it's time to listen.

Having a little think I can see no reason why some planetary outposts shouldn't have large pads. If you can land a large ship right next to one why can't they build something you can build to land on in a station. It should depend on size and economy though as that outpost paying over the odds for goods to transported out would eventually hit the point where a costs/benefit analysis would justify the costs for a bigger pad.

It should be part of ongoing development of sites and would be inevitable where multiple players are running from them and creating a boom

Lack of facilities?

Why would you accept a large ship if you didn't have the means to repair them, refuel them, move their cargo, provide facilities for their passengers, etc....

One has 4 walls and a roof.

The other one has fuel, Cable TV, showers, a gym, a barber, hot food and security.

Where are you parking your rig for the night?

But I could park my rig next to that shack and unload, I just wouldn't get the facilities which I noted earlier was fine, and for the truck stop, what was there before it was built? Nature didn't create it, humans did to meet a need and what I said was that this should be part of ongoing development as economics justifies need

Again...not much of an investment. You get credits by doing anything in the game. Ranking up AND getting credits for the Fed Corv and Imp Cut are difficult and time consuming. The reward for all that work is less content and higher insurance costs.

Now make me my sammich....

I am thinking along the lines of small ports in the real world.

large vehicles still have access to small ports/warehouses but there are difficulties involved, having to get into a smaller vehicle or walk to get to the office (cant do that in space) and any cargo required would be loaded by smaller vehicles too.

So yes I believe they should be available to large ships but they must be moored away from the outpost, say 1 km, and you either have access to the services from your ship or you have to fly in with an SLF - I would say SLF as it would be an inconvenience for some having to fit an SLF and lose cargo space etc.

Any cargo missions that you are able to carry out would have a time penalty to allow for the movement of cargo from the outpost to the remotely moored ship - it doesn't have to be huge, something like 5 minutes per mission that is inconvenience enough - and a similar time penalty for the commodities market.

I do not think you should have access to shipyard or outfitting though, that will still be a penalty for having a large ship at a small station.

something along those lines would make them accessible but still an inconvenience.

Disagree. Leave outposts for small and medium ships. In fact, we should also have outposts with only small pads if you ask me. Give small ships a purpose.
.
That actually might be a good idea for asteroid bases. If you hollow out a small rock to build a base inside, the landing pad might also be small. :)
