‘Last Orders’

Weeell... I guess it's a save bet that the Alpha starts on the weekend of the 7th then, no?

I so hope that is true.
but I dare not.
over here at the fifth of December al the kids get there presents.
because Siterklaas has passed by.
so the seventh would be great.

(Sinterklaas is the original Santa clause,)

Kickstarter does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator's ability to complete their project on time. On Kickstarter, backers (you!) ultimately decide the validity and worthiness of a project by whether you decide to fund it.

All know is if I'm not playing something, beta or not, in early April that says "Elite" on the launcher, I'd be very upset and would likely request a refund. That is all. And no, I won't pay 200 pounds to be a QA tester.

You're not entitled to one. Learn how Kickstarter works, learn what "estimate" means. That is all. :)

learn what "customer satisfaction" and "reliability" means. That is all. :)

what did you buy to be a customer ? or are you confused by FD giving presents to people who donated money.

reliability is for customers , the game hasnt been relesed yet so no customers here yet.

From the Kickstarter terms of use:

  • The Estimated Delivery Date listed on each reward is not a promise to fulfill by that date, but is merely an estimate of when the Project Creator hopes to fulfill by.
  • Project Creators agree to make a good faith attempt to fulfill each reward by its Estimated Delivery Date.
  • Kickstarter does not offer refunds. A Project Creator is not required to grant a Backer’s request for a refund unless the Project Creator is unable or unwilling to fulfill the reward.
  • Project Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any Backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill.

By signing up to Kickstarter and pledging (assuming you did it through Kickstarter and not through FD's post-Kickstarter app) you have effectively waived your rights to request a refund due to the project being delivered late. Given the progress of the project so far (Alpha looking to be delivered on time) you wouldn't be able to argue that FD have not made a good faith attempt to fulfill the reward on time. FD are more than able and willing to fulfill your reward, but there's always the possibility that there may be development delays.

Now, if you pledged through FD's app (and possibly this applies to everyone who used the app -- not sure about that part), the following apply:

  • The deposit shall be earned by FD and become non-refundable to the extent that it is used for the Game Cost, with each Contributor’s deposit being applied as follows: first to the fulfillment of the reward items, and then to the Game Cost in a percentage equal to the total applied Game Cost in relation to the total Contributor deposits remaining after the cost for the pledge items.
  • FD agrees to use its good faith business efforts to deliver to you the reward items and the Game on or before the estimated delivery date. However, you acknowledge and agree that delivery as of such date is not a promise by FD since unforeseen events may extend the development and/or production time. Accordingly, you agree that any unearned portion of the deposit shall not be refundable until and unless FD has not delivered the reward items and/or the Game to you within 12 months after the estimated delivery date.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, in consideration of FD’s good faith efforts to develop, produce, and deliver the Game with the funds raised, you agree that any deposit amounts applied against the Game Cost as described above shall be non-refundable regardless of whether or not FD is able to complete and deliver the Game. In the unlikely event that FD is not able to deliver the Game, FD agrees to post an audited cost accounting on its website to fully explain the use of the deposits for the Game Cost. In consideration of the promises by FD hereunder, you agree to irrevocably waive any claim for refund of any deposit amount that has been used for the Game Cost in accordance with the above.

As you can see, in that case you would only be entitled to a refund were the physical rewards or game more than 12 months late (and you'd only be entitled to a refund for the proportion of the total that corresponds to physical rewards rather than the game).

The moral of this story is: if you're going to get all uppity about a crowd-funded project not delivering on time, read the terms and conditions that you agreed to before doing so.

Hello everyone!!

I'm new on this forum, I have never played Elite because I was too young, but I have to say I can't wait to play the game from the guy you all praise...

I'm just a bit confused. I had initially pledged for the 25£ pack with just the game. After seeing how awesome this game will be, I have decided I can't wait and wanted to upgrade to be at least in 2beta and get a box of the game, so I added 35£ to my initial pledge to get the 60£ one. I also got 35£ reward credit.

On the backers app, it still tells me my rewards are just the game for the moment (so the 25£ initial pledge), even if my total backed is 60£, which should get me the higher pledge.

So my questions are,
- what can be used the reward credit for? I can't use some to upgrade it seems, but just buying lower pledges. I don't understand the point of "buying" a second pledge with it (though I could get a second box of the game with it).
- is it normal that my rewards are still registered as my initial pledge of 25£?

Thanks!!

woohoo citing terms and conditions, very classy.
We'll see if they keep their delivery date or not. March is the time to open beta for every backer. Otherwise they could kiss their reputation goodbye.

but I believe FD is a gentlemen company so on March 1 my download bandwidth will be ready.

Contact Frontier in the app of backers. You'll get a quick and accurate response. There is a "Contact" link in the application. And welcome in the great Elite family

You're not a customer. You're a backer. This is not the same thing and nobody forced you to be a backer

Couldn't agree more, ED is for backers only as it stands and will take as long as it takes by what I've read in the latest news letter.

Hi Arctic, and welcome.
On the first page of the Backer's App it should show your rewards on the left side. Select 'Upgrade' underneath.
Then choose the £60 reward level from the list so it expands to show the details. Then click the 'Select' button to use up the extra £35 you've added.

Ask again if you're still stuck at any point :)

Thank you, and Patrick.

Yeah that's what i've done already, went to upgrade my pledge the way you said from 25£ to 60£ by paying through credit card 35£, which gave me in the process 35£ of reward credit. It wouldn't make sense that I have to spend those reward credit to get the pledge, as I've already paid 60£ in total. So I'm not sure I understand what you mean Frogs. (not a native english speaker here, so some subtlety might slip :p)

But yeah, I guess i'll contact the customer service...

You've backed £60 in total.
£25 of that is already spent on the reward level you've chosen, leaving you with £35 Reward Credit still to spend.
You should now be able to choose the £60 reward level and that will use up the remaining £35 Reward Credit leaving you with £0.

The Reward Credit is just the amount pledged that you haven't used yet.

The customer service people are very good and should sort it out for you quickly :)

While I don't think we are entitled to anything, So far FD has only convinced that they are trying to keep their word. They promised that Alpha will come December. In fact, I didn't expect it. I thought it would make sense to move it to the January next year. Still, here were are and alpha is coming.

What about Beta? FD has said again, that there's no schedule because there can be delays. However if something I have understand they just want to keep options open. If alpha testers, DDF and FD together quickly get trough scenarios and decisions, Beta will start somewhere in January and second stage - in February.

So please, don't be a jerk. So far FD has show it's trustworthiness in many aspects. There's big chance will be playing ED fully in March. Let's help FD to get there.

You've backed £60 in total.
£25 of that is already spent on the reward level you've chosen, leaving you with £35 Reward Credit still to spend.

Alright, well you've sorted me out. I just thought reward credit was something else entirely, like an extra money they give you. I know, one can dream... But that's how I understood it from the Help section on the web app. (That was plain stupidity from my side :p)

Thanks a lot
