Last post. Pay attention if you will.

I just want to know which post is actually the last post.

The OP was stated as such, the second reply by the OP was an addendum in reaction to my post, those after that were part of a brief engagement with the less positive contributions to the thread.

It is easier to mock though, that reaction is understandable too (the humour tends to lighten the mood of those who remain) but does nothing to give the OP the opportunity to return (I hope the OP's circumstances eventually change such that they feel able to return).

What's even easier than mocking though, is to simply ignore these 'I'm leaving' threads if one has nothing positive to say or does not know the poster.

Personally I prefer the 'French exit' (In France it is called an English Exit); just leave without a word.

I have no doubt the devs and CMs and maybe even DB have every intention of making this game great. But to do that they'd have to have the reigns and what EDO has shown is that they do not.

The fact it was decided that what ED needs is a bolt on shooter that replicated the worst grind mechanics from the ship game tells me that FDev is not being steered by people who love the game. Rather they love money and probably don't understand much about the games players.

Considering a lot of the issues at launch were the same as those experienced and raised by the community in Alpha... I would say Yes, it was rushed. It's not really about the amount of time, it's about getting the thing working and functioning properly. If it takes a few more years to perfect then they are better off taking their time doing that than trying to hurry in fixes that don't work and / or break other parts of the game.

Tbh, I'm constantly baffled by Frontier design decisions.
One of the biggest strengths of Elite is procedurally generated 1:1 galaxy.
Exploration should be one of main foundations and focus of this game.
And then they make Odyssey, where the main effort went to create rather medicore FPS with questionable mechanic, played out mostly in small, limited locations, with exploration remaining as simple as collecting (shooting) dozens of recolored variations of plants (or planets).
IMO decisions were made high up and imposed on the devs, including an unachievable deadline.

So for me the question is will FDev let creative visionary people make decisions again? If not then I think things will simply continue to get worse.

But here's hoping we've created enough of a headache for executives to re-evaluate current strategies.

Because no FPS's are not actually a dead cert money maker.

I am glad to see many have engaged with all the on foot shooter stuff. Good for you and your bushy tailed enthusiasm. I'm glad it's up your alley.

But for me (and some others I guess) its completely misplaced effort. 2 years spent on this mess which could have been spent doubling down on all the great concepts introduced since ED launched. Imagine where the game could be had they done so.

But yeah the devs are working on it and it is getting better. It is what is and I truly feel for the devs and the CMs and hope that they are given the room to make good on this wonderful game.

What?! David Braben, the prominent game developer and co-creator of Raspberry Pi, the receiver of Development Legend Award, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, winner of Tech Personality of the Year, honorary degree of Abertay University, Open Universtiy and University of York, Officer of the Order of the British Empire, Game Developers Choice Award and BAFTA awards is not listening to a random bloke from internet?

Shocking.
The only shocking thing is a moderator beeing polemical. Thats a real shame and shows the state of the forums.
