I'm not messing around replacing Epic files... too risky.
As a couple other players, i also just installed the mini ed launcher from Github. It comes with clear instructions on the download page and the game is working for me right now
As other have noted. The launcher will not now launch the game. Also will not validate files and if you try to reinstall, you get the same checksum error. I think when they left the office tonight, someone has slammed the door a bit to hard.
We shouldn't have to install anything else unofficial for it to work (even more considering it was fine a few hours ago)...

what gets me is the server status is still showing as good :/
You don't have to. For steam it is like
1. Copy launcher to folder where original is.
2. add "MinEdLauncer %command%"
that's all
Can confirm this workaround works for now. And no files need to be deleted or anything, just follow the README if you wanna do it yaself.
Now what can i get up to while most players are offline? lol
Given that it seems to work fine with an alternative Launcher, it might not have anything to do with the servers per se.

Logged out about 16:50 (Steam) worked fine until then. I got the same issue when I tried to login about 19:30

Same here. All good two days ago. Logged in one hour ago, got the update pushed and since then no joy. Exactly the issue as described by soooo many above.
I'm on Steam, same issue.
Launcher worked fine 5 hours ago, now after pressing play it just resets and nothing happens.
