EPISODE 284 “White Knight Mirror” – 17/10/2020
Really nice, I didn't notice it until now because I though it was in error. Meta is strong here.
Nice episode, thanks!

My sympathy goes out to the Fuel Rats. We miss you.

You were asking if we could imagine a parallel world where Elite: Dangerous slowed down development completely after the Horizons season. I guess that would suck, but then that parallel universe might also be one in which a far right organisation hadn't gotten in charge of the White House and there's no deadly virus that's making the Earth stand still

If only I could send someone to that parallel universe to kill my other Frank. That way I'd be able to close my eyes and wish myself over there, and only visit this universe when I want to play Alec Turner's amazing racetracks

That episode came across as really passive aggressive and quite ugly at times. I don't mind the podcast's usual expressions of cynical views as they are invariably well founded and sometimes even eloquent, but this was more than I could really stomach.

Because truth hurts sometimes? :p

"Ugly"? Come on, it was all in good fun.

It was pretty well "acted" as well. I loved how they all managed to keep their mannerisms even in this fictional episode. Guess that's what a ton of experience allows you to do.

Bear in mind that the central conceit was an entirely fictional and idealised world where everything they could have wished for was real. It was a clever device to let them run with it and have fun without the antagonism that often materialises when the game is criticsed.

My feeling was it was smart and light touch rather than cyncial. They've had to be really inventive to find interesting topics to discuss in the current drought and I have only admiration for how successful they've been. Really super stuff and long may they continue!
