Leaderboards and Daily Achievement Titles

Leader boards, killboards and rankings take away from immersion and roleplay and open the door for climbing testosteron levels, rudeness and minmaxing setups. PacalB gave a good summary of the Eve online history on page 1. That game used to be a lot more fun before they introduced postable killmails and killboards.

I completely disagree. I neither want to share my own, nor care about others' stats. I don't need to see how others are playing, in order to justify my own performance. I'll play E: D in my own way and to try to compare that to a bunch of raw stats for other players is imo, pointless.

And I agree with your disagreement ;)

I don't wish to share my stats - I know how bad I am
I don't care how good others are - I know that too, you just destroyed me ;)

That said I understand how for some this is important so an opt-in scheme solves all.

I was talking about rankings, not statistics

I am sure that those who criticize harshly rankings (I'm not talking about statistics), will be the first to look discreetly their positions in different rankings that will offer Frontier. It's always like this ...

:p

Speak for yourself, I would never look at them... at all! Not interested.

Fact is, FD are pushing for immersion, I'd say a good percentage of us 'want' immersion (as much of it as possible). Things that destroy or break down immersion really should be 'no no' on everyone's mind here. I'd hedge my bets that FD are thinking this way as well, (actually I don't need to gamble whilst thinking about it. I see what's going on in the DDF, it's ALL about immersion!)

So that said, stats lists like those suggested by the OP here are a moot suggestion. Not going to happen, it's not the direction FD is pushing with their design. And whilst thinking about the DDF, it gives me great confidence the ED will never be an EVE 2.0, no matter what some people want. There it is, and new people here who may have any doubts whilst lurking and reading this thread, I'd suggest you go read the DDF release logs, you'll see example after example that it is all about immersion.

Now I won't say immersion any more because you should be getting it by now. :D

I quite liked not knowing how far you were away from moving up a military or combat rating. I think the Elite rating is what Elite is all about, not 24 hour kills, this is not a shoot-em-up!

I think too many games go overboard on stats just because they can now.

Some stats for personal use I think may be interesting, but only ones that add to the game. I think the news feeds and missions will alert people to exceptional behaviour and that will be better for a bit of mystery rather than everything being out in the open.
