No, there is a chance, just not likely. There could be any number of bugs based on changing the amounts of RAM from not being seated...
makes no sense tbh, I read ur post and all it said to me was 'this person does not understand how a PC works' sorry dont mean to be rude or trolly but that is what I readSo yesterday, I was playing the game like normal, no problems. Today after about 2 hours of cleaning my computer, taking the ram out, adjusting some fans just general maintainance, i wound up swapping the ram slots because i realized i accedentially placed my fan in such a manner that caused it to blow heat back into the case instead of out. That was the ONLY change i made, other than cleaning fans and to my knowledge fans dont store data. I now cannot access my custom 4.0 binds and have to redo ALL of my x56 binds. Frontier...can you people just....NOT use the %localappdata% folder for important stuff like GRAPHICS AND BINDS?!
The last issue I had with losing key binds, which was probably 2 or 3 years back now was similar, but I ended up copying and pasting the controller ID number to replace the instances of its older version in the text of the bindings file itself. I had switched from D-input to X-input (both short for DirectX, but the D-input is the old standard and generally less pripriotary and predefined in assignment)... But anyway, I had switched this on the firmware settings of the controller I use, and at another point on the same controller going from USB Bluetooth plug to 2.4GHz USB plug transceiver.Just to add to that....
A while back I lost all my keybinds after an update (first and only time it's happened) and I felt quite smug knowing that I'd backed them up.
Copied them into the correct folder and.... nothing.
Wasn't quite so smug after that.
Turned out that the game had, at some point, made several different "versions" of a variety of files.
Can't recall what they were but there were a bunch of files, including the keybinds, with added 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05 suffixes.
My backed-up keybind files didn't have those suffixes.
Ended up having to figure out which was the most recent version of each file and then manually added a similar suffix to the various keybind files to get it working.
Made for a tense half hour but it wasn't that hard to do and if you're smart enough to copy/paste the keybinds you're probably also smart enough to rename them if necessary.
Isn't always as simple as a straightforward cut/paste though.
That's what I mean, the RAM not being seated could mean less RAM in use which could be detected and affect how potentially buggy system drivers, BIOS, or programs run. So yes, there is a chance, just not likely.Oh my. Sorry but no, it's not "not likely". There is no chance. End of. We aren't arguing a matter of opinion here, that's simply not how RAM works, no point discussing it further. That's literally my field of work. Water doesn't flow upstream, fire doesn't freeze things, RAM doesn't store permanent data. To keep implying the opposite is literally flat-earther level of blindness to facts.
(And RAM not being seated is just a PC staying dead. It's not a carburettor to be tuned, it's either seated and working, or not seated and as good as not being there at all)
Yeah. The real issue is USB re-mapping. And RAM swapping can totally be one of the tens of possible "triggers".That's what I mean, the RAM not being seated could mean less RAM in use which could be detected and affect how potentially buggy system drivers, BIOS, or programs run. Um, smell curious. Heard the common Amazon tree frog flatulence had a hallucina..err medicinal effectAre you buying, selling or just smell curious?
Asking for a frog.

Wow, I forgot about Fast Boot. I never used it. So it uses the RAM? It says that it put your computer in hibernation mode. Isn't it kind of dangerous to touch your hardware when it's "powered" on?Or just disable fast boot in windows, you don't want that enabled if you plan to take apart your pc for cleaning/upgrades
I'm just wondering if he's still assuming I was saying that the RAM is storing stuff when it's off, when that isn't what I was saying nor meaning to imply.Yeah. The real issue is USB re-mapping. And RAM swapping can totally be one of the tens of possible "triggers".
Not quite, it stores info on disc for fast loading, kind of like hibernating rather than sleep.Wow, I forgot about Fast Boot. I never used it. So it uses the RAM? It says that it put your computer in hibernation mode. Isn't it kind of dangerous to touch your hardware when it's "powered" on?

Get Moving: How to Make Your Windows PC Boot Faster
Does Windows take a long time to boot up? Here are a few things you can do to make the startup process on your computer a little quicker.www.pcmag.com
Oh thx for the explanation. You never know nowadays with progress of technologies, haha. Not quite, it stores info on disc for fast loading, kind of like hibernating rather than sleep.
I mean, it could be cool if they invented a way to put the computer into "semi-powered" hibernation mode, keeping the RAM alive for "fast boot". Sweet dreams I guess. Not quite, it stores info on disc for fast loading, kind of like hibernating rather than sleep.
But it can mean that anything that was or is running could potentially get a little wonky over time where a fresh boot could help.
So like a standby mode, yeah, they might use similar to some mobiles and things with internal power supplies. Not sure. I think this is used more for base level system stuff, CIA snooping and that sort of thing.I mean, it could be cool if they invented a way to put the computer into "semi-powered" hibernation mode, keeping the RAM alive for "fast boot". If you move ram around in a system, a PC may do a long boot instead of a quick boot at the BIOS/UEFI level. USB initialization orders could change during that process or the OS boot after it depending on what USB devices are attached. You are correct, RAM does not hold data after it is powered down, but it's not about that, it's about what the PC bios may be doing after you change the ram from one slot to another.Oh my. Sorry but no, it's not "not likely". There is no chance. End of. We aren't arguing a matter of opinion here, that's simply not how RAM works, no point discussing it further. I’ll stick with the nice stable (relatively bug free) horizons thanks…..how’s being an unpaid beta tester working out as a second job?I heard xbox always loses all of its Odyssey keybinds..
