Let's play: What I saw, What I'll see! 👀🫎

Just got back from this trip earlier this afternoon, and for quolls (amongst many other things) it was a roaring success! I saw my first one at a campground on the 6th night of the trip, which also happened to be my 20th birthday, and what a great present it was. This quoll was extremely tame, even walking right up to me and sniffing my hand as I squatted near it, so clearly they've been thrown one too many scraps in the past and have lost their fear of humans. Feeding wildlife should not be condoned of course, but in this case it did leave a great opportunity for me to have a close encounter with what is normally an elusive animal. The first image below was just taken with my phone, no zoom involved, while the others are two of the many I took with my actual camera:

In my original post on this thread, I found it difficult to pick which of my wildlife encounters was most exciting, but I think the largest remaining marsupial carnivore on mainland Australia raiding my camp on my birthday definitely takes the cake now.

Surprisingly that wasn't even the only encounter I had with spotted-tailed quolls on this trip, for I also saw them three nights in a row while road cruising up in the Barrington Tops - I'm guessing it's some kind of hotspot for them up there, but even still I must have been very lucky to see so many.

I'll post about the rest of the stuff I saw on my trip in the wildlife encounters thread sometime very soon.
Largest remaining marsupial carnivore on mainland Australia. Well that's a long way to say Quoll.

Wow! Where did you see them?

Wow! Where did you see them?
The super tame quoll was in the campground at Bald Rock National Park, they’ve been around there since late 2021 according to iNaturalist reports. The other three were all seen in Barrington Tops National Park along the road to Gloucester Tops (which, besides being a top spot for quolls apparently, was also where I managed to find an elusive parma wallaby as well as many greater gliders).

I'm seeing some posts with marine animals, so I assume they're okay answers.

Most exciting animal you saw in the wild? - Giant Manta Ray. While visiting family in Florida had the opportunity to go on a offshore scuba diving "adventure". It was pretty cool, there were lots of fish to see, but this definitely topped the list. It was really unexpected. If we're talking about land animals, American Bison

Most exciting animal you saw in zoos? Whale Shark, Georgia Zoo, absolutely amazing animals. If we're talking land animals, Giant Panda, my favorite animal of all time.

Animal you most want to see in the game? Wolverine

Animal you want to see in a zoo? Capybara - given their commonality in zoos, it's pretty crazy I've never been to a zoo that has them.

animal you want to see in the wild? Theoretically, a Great Panda, but since I'm probably never going to go to China, I'll pick something fairly local. I'd love to see a North America River Otter.

Where could you go to see the animals from the previous question? - there's a lot of zoos I could go to to see the Capybara. Memphis zoo is a few hours away.

I'll join in aswell

Most exciting animal you saw in the wild? Atlantic Puffins. A boat trip to the island of Lunga on the west coast of scotland well known for its puffin sightings, being metres away from such an adorable bird has got to be my highlight so far. That being said i also discovered how high the waves can go to trigger seasickness. A bit closer to land however i would say the american alligator in my many nature adventures to florida.

Most exciting animal seen in a zoo? African Elephant. I know that sounds lame to most people but being from scotland where elephants are nowhere to be found in zoos it really was such a unique experience. It was at the Disney Animal Kingdom on the safari ride, been so long since i have visited though.

Most wanted animal in the game? Sea Otter, give me the cute sea otters!

Animal i want to see in a zoo? Considering i have only visited say a dozen zoos, literally anything not usually found in the northern uk. Tasmanian devil or pallas cat, i cant decide which would be a higher priority.

Animal i want to see in the wild? American bison or grizzly bears. I love watching those north american documentaries.

Where can i go to see these animals? For the zoo, that would be columbus zoo which im actually visiting very shortly. For the wild, that would be yellowstone national park, one day i hope i can visit it.

I visited in 2018 and it was pretty cool! My favorite exhibit was the manatee one, all the manatees, pelicans, and the sea turtle are rescues!

Here goes:
Most exciting animal you saw in the wild?
I'm from Florida, so usually an alligator is pretty common. Growing up, my parents and I also got deer, raccoons, armadillos, and opossums in our yard all the time.
Regarding my most exciting experice with wild animals, I took a trip to Yellowstone National Park with my parents years ago. Two distinct encounters stand out. First, at one point, we stopped to look at this waterfall in the park, and when we were walking back through the parking lot, a large bull elk was standing near a building (I think it was a bathroom.). Everyone was watching it, and I was a little scared that it might snap if provoked. Second, I remember that traffic had been stopped up for a little bit in a wooded area in the park because a herd of bison were crossing the road. I was really scared then because I remember seeing videos of bison ramming cars for no reason.
Another exciting wild animal encounter was when my parents and I went on a whale watching tour in California. We saw a HUGE humpback whale. Maybe two of them.

Most exciting animal you saw in zoos?
That's like asking a parent to choose a favorite kid! I've seen a LOT of animals and have been to a LOT of zoos. I've seen lions, tigers, gorillas, chimps, elephants, rhinos, hippos, pandas, pinnipeds, crocodilians, canids, orcas, dolphins, and all sorts of things.

Animal you most want to see in the game?
Tasmanian devil, walrus, angolan colobus, secretary bird, honey badger, and a bunch more.

Animal you want to see in a zoo? Animal you want to see in the wild?
Zoo: A platypus. I've even seen a video in which an Australian zoo will let you wade with the platypus! That's on the top of my bucket list! Also, Phineas and Ferb was a big part of my childhood, so . . . yeah.
Wild: Preferably something that won't kill me. I'll take what I can get.

Where could you go to see the animals from the previous question?
Zoo: Just to see the platypus, there's the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. They have they only platypus in the Western Hemisphere. I don't remember what zoo had the wading with the platypus tour though.
Wild: Like I said, I'm not picky, just as long as it won't kill me.
