Let's say you take over complete control of development of E.D. - what would your roadmap be...

Personally. I'd start with ground based Thargoid content. Then move onto more development of the BGS, give squadrons more control over there faction. Decide where to expand into, the ability to create faction goals to expand facilities in systems, found outposts and develop economies. I'd then look at improving modules, create another tier of modules, time moves on so expanded jump ranges, chaff being less effective etc. I'd also move engineering from being about gathering random stuff and more about unlocking engineers by performing tasks, and then if you want something engineering it being a combination of credits plus performing a task for said engineer. Next up would be a few new ships. A soley combat focussed ship for the Imps for King Rank. An exploration ship from the feds for Admiral and a new trader from the alliance for being allied with them. Finally I'd look at adding in capital ships for squadrons over a certain size, they'd be deployable into CZs for there faction, and maybe some player v player faction based combat...

Agree with pretty much all this - ship interiors being the obvious addition I'd make. Also, I've always thought a medium sized Imperial ship would be really nice - something Python sized but with Imperial looks.
 
I would look into weather and dust storms plus water worlds with land able rigs. Would also look at submersibles which would open up a whole new experience :)

I'd add a bunch of small, optional pDLCs that aren't interdependent but could combine.

Several types of additional landable planet type pDLCs, with thicker atmospheres, weather & corrosion that both shapes the terrain (more than just a height map) and affects flying & damage to the ship such that simply flying & landing on them adds some sort of minor challenge in addition to the high-G and rough terrain challenges we currently have.

Optional extra bio-scanning and mining/sample collecting tools to use on existing assets found in space & on planet surfaces to improve mats collecting & recipe unlocking for engineering, crafting & synthesis.

Optional extra region & planet permit unlocks, for example additional Thargoid content within permit locked regions, additional extinct or abandoned alien settlements, POIs & USSs, and a moon permit.

Optional extra 'galaxies' to explore, potentially the whole local group but mainly I have the large & small Magellanic clouds in mind, it would be a shame for a tool as awesome as stellar forge to only be used to create one galaxy.
 
  • Fix Team Sync
  • Make Session of al least 100 players at time, fixing small station and rescue ship to realize that (It's a MMO, it'snt ?)
  • Fix the Missions gain to give people more gain in team and fix the gain material in Team / Multiplayer like giving own drop like others MMO
  • Fix the game mode in Open play and Private Group only, where Open can change influence and Private no, meanwhile redesign the whole crime and punishment system
...
These only to start on and it's a lot of works ...
 
Multiplayer tweaks - create lobbies to enable individuals to team up (could be in game i.e. in designated carrier or/and settlements)
Task Forces - Chained group missions with reward on completion - these could occur in permit locked areas that have bespoke assets i.e. unique planets and ships in area
Free to play element of the game
More developed settlement state - NPCs traverse between settlements by vehicle, roads and bridges and thicker atmospheres with unique flight model dependant upon parameters of planet
Ability to hire and level up NPC crew that follow given instructions on foot and in SLFs
 
In order:
  1. Optimization updates for a whole year
  2. On-foot combat rebalancing
  3. F2P Arena mode
  4. Boarding action against capital ships, megaships, and installations in space combat areas
  5. Change ground CZs to be a bit more like Battlefield 1's Frontlines mode, and add ground bombs and the ability to disable structures by bombing them.
    1. Also add a specialized SRV to repair structures and a mission type to match, as well as a "reconstruction" system state right after a war or civil war
  6. New Scorpion variants: tank, IFV, artillery, and AA
    1. Satchel charges too, for infantry to counter them better
    2. Also make shields absorb collision damage, since they don't right now for some reason
  7. New ships and fighters
  8. Carriers now have their own air patrol made up of SLFs instead of being guarded by system security. ATR still shows up if you somehow kill enough people without the carrier blasting you away.
  9. Rebalancing Crime and Punishment to make ganking actually have consequences.
 
Delete engineers and all effects.
Complete overhaul of exploration.
Unless oddyssey can be rolled into horizons without messing up how horizons looks, refund and scrap odyssey.
Scrap and overhaul all UIs, they're simply terrible.
Add more trigger buttons.
Remove CQC from the Elite grouping.
Overhaul C&P.
Allow landings on earth like
