Let's say you take over complete control of development of E.D. - what would your roadmap be...

3.11 for Workgroups was OK.

No to subscriptions.

Censored no to fast track beacons and other shortcuts.
Agreed on fast track beacons. Maybe for limited onfoot within the same system but even then I'm not really in favour but on ships hell no. Travel all the way to beagle point get millions in exploration data, fast travel back...

Go free-2-play. Allow for private servers and release and support modding tools for the community with a optional subscription with perks.
What does going f2p bring to the game? Unless more people are buying ARX than it seems then f2p means fdev has to cope with additional server load, players have to worry about things like login queues at busy times? How happy would people who have paid for the game be happy to wait at busy times to be able to even login because fdev's login servers are struggling to cope with demand because of an influx of players?

update 12: bugfixes and optimization, update 13: bug fixes, optimization, squadron overhaul, update 14: bug fixes, optimization, VR back on the menu, update 15: new mission types, bug fixes, optimization, 2023: complete redesign of engineering and announcement the game will become live service, first update of 2023: announcement of the development of the Cobra 2 game engine, second update of 2023: optimization, bug fixes, work on ship interiors begin. play by ear afterwards

You want me to recap all my suggestions and preferences from the past 7 years?
On the one hand I'm too lazy and on the other what good it might have been worth has likely already been done.
So aside from going into all the specifics of what I want, what I'd like to see implemented still are basically what was talked about in the Frontier videos you can see on their YouTube channel. Just sort for oldest first and enjoy, or here's a link. https://www.youtube.com/c/elitedangerous/videos?view=0&sort=da&flow=grid
Also working SLI support for my graphics cards in Odyssey as in Horizons would be a nice short-term goal.

I would add modding for scripted stories and missions. There are a bunch of creative people out there that i am sure could whip up some interesting campaigns. Yeah i would probably want some sort of review process to make sure its on theme and the rewards are balanced, but i would let people have at it. The best ones i would use for rank progression. Yes, while i am at it, rank would become meaningful.

Then i would take a look at how to get more meaningful player interaction than just shooting each other. You would WANT to be in open mode.

Finally, i would add more ships. Its a space game. Nothing wrong with having a few duplicates to fill roles providing they are aesthetically different or fit into canon.

Actually one more thing. You progress far enough into your engineering rank and you can lay claim to small areas of planets outside of the bubble and build on them. All those lovely polygons they have already made for me in the current buildings - i would let players use them to build their own habitats. At crazy credit prices for sure. No magic upkeep cost though. You just need to maintain them or they slowly crumble away.

That will do for one update. I will tell you what the next update will be at a regularly scheduled interval.

Ok, I pull my suggestions and vote for these.

Premium players dont wait in any cues.

Well, honestly I'm glad I'm not the one in charge of anything to do with ED. I don't want that responsibility, I just like playing duh vidja gaym.
Personally, I'd just scrap ED and funnel millions into an entirely new Elite with an up-to-date engine, stable dedicated servers, and DLSS instead of this horrendous anti-aliasing.

About a topic:

  • 1st and important thing - Resuming Odyssey on consoles.
  • Making reputation on faction more important, even giving you access to join to this faction with all benefits and punishments of being of it (temporary or permanently).
  • Changes in all governments, making them more important thing, than before (by for example, having different politics and ways, for which they can increasing influence).
  • Changes in Crime and Punishment, so criminals and security forces will be have more options to execute or avoiding laws. Additionally, new tools for criminals will be added (like bribery, intimidating or forcing victims to drop cargo)
  • And yeah, I without mentioning about changes to anarchies is not me. Yeah, the most changes will be for anarchies, completely changing them.
