Lets talk about the new community goal in Rhea....

what’s wrong with helping the unfortunate inhabitants of Rhea

After the catastrophic earthquake the crust of their planet will most probably implode under the weight of the many millions of tons of titanium hauled there by all those helpful cmdrs.

Btw, helping "unfortunate inhabitants" (who do not actually exist, therefore nobody can possibly help them) is not the reason why most people are participating in the CG. It's mainly the reward, which is a unique module some people would find handy for some utterly unrelated activities but cannot simply buy, so all they can do is bite the bullet and do the most soul crushingly boring "dock - load - undock - jump - dock - unload - rinse repeat 10's of times" kind of grind.

Which they, quite understandably, are not exactly happy about, considering that fdev could just make that wretched module available for credits, and most people would just be perfectly okay with any number of imaginary inhabitants of Rhea dying to titanium deficiency after imaginary earthquakes.

Just because something is a longstanding issue, doesn't mean it's impossible to improve.

CGs could absolutely be expanded to reward multiple types of contributions for wider appeal. Or just using what we currently have, just pair up CG types like they usually do. And/or, run CGs more frequently so that if one CG isn't your thing, you can probably just come back in a week rather than months. Can't include every activity, but since when was that the goal?
Yeah, the topic "How to improve CGs" has been discussed hundreds times here as well... not much happened unfortunately, same for the rewards even considering the ones with unique modules (modules that have not been made available to other players so far). There's definitively a lot of margin for improvement, for more engagement etc. but I am not sure this is on FDEV's schedule atm.

Make it Arx and Fdev might be interested...

You are looking at it from the perspective of a game player and equating community with players. It is supposed to be as internal to ED as Galnet or the Thargoid war.
The Goal is in the title/description of the CG as is the Community.

The competitive thing is there because they know that most commanders are competitive so adding that boosts the chances of the goal being met.
AXI would ensure the goal was met regardless obviously.

Indeed, I was wrong about a lot regarding this CG. Players came out heavy and crushed this. I will never doubt the player base again. Who knew so many liked hauling cargo!! I have learned much. And kudos to Fdev for making improvements to the active CG on the fly. Really impressive reaction there. Proves they listen AND care. Rare in today's gaming

The first reward sucks IMO, the only people in a space sim who would choose orange MIGHT be the Irish and the Dutch.
I would be very careful about suggesting that to an Irish person without knowing where their loyalties lie first, but we should probably avoid straying further into real life issues.

I will also say though that in game Canonn Science's colours are Orange, and all of my research vessels have Orange in the paintjobs somehow, and Orange thrusters 😊

That's essentially the Thargoid war design - or, from the look of the previews, Powerplay 2.

(I suspect Frontier would be very happy if Powerplay 2 interest was sufficiently high that they didn't need to run CGs again)
