in a working simulator given mikunn is broken, how often do the influence stats update ?
Bottom line, I don't think anybody knows. I used to think it updated once a day, usually when I was at work here in the United States, but I've seen it update several times when I'm playing, or not at all.
My hypothesis is that it's not enough to do missions for CSG, you also have to actively work
against LFE and damage their influence, before you can gain more influence
for CSG. Its not enough for the people a station serves to see CSG succeed. They also have to see the LFE fail.
This might also explain why gains seem to come in fits and spurts. I know there are several people actively working
against LFE by destroying their ships, and I can't be the only one betraying LFE missions. I believe once we've damaged LFE's influence enough, others working
for CSG can earn more influence for them. Since not everyone plays during peak hours UK time (I play nights in the States) and betraying LFE's missions is usually the
last thing I do, because it requires searching USSs, once we're done playing, we leave the game having freed up some influence from LFE for the next players to get for CSG.
That is why I betray as many LFE missions as I can get. Unfortunately, it isn't as many as it used to be, because after so many betrayals, LFE barely trusts me to haul bio-waste. I think I've used up all the good reputation I had made with the Federation on the way towards civilized space, as well as my diversion to Lugh. If I want to damage LFE more, I've got to change my strategy.
I've already started to pick up my orders from Federation stations, as opposed to independents like I used to. Doing this Friday earned me enough reputation with the Federation to free up a single mission for LFE. I think I'm also going to reduce the number of missions I do for CSG, and start earning reputation with the Federation. I'll concentrate on Seseung, Eta Crusis, and Hill Pa Hsi, the three systems I do a lot of business with on behalf of CSG. This will hopefully make LFE think my failures on their behalf weren't my fault, and they'll start trusting me again.
My other alternative is to actively attack the Federation, but that would leave me wanted in the Federation. That isn't a bridge I want to burn until there's an actual shooting war in Lugh, and I doubt my master would let me anyway. She still hasn't replied to my requests to take bounty hunting missions, and until she does I'm honor bound to respect her wishes in this matter.
*sigh*
What in the world is going on back home?
