I also dont want to sound pedantic here now but we have to get more organized again alltogether. Today i as saw people doing this and that. Messing around in conflict zones by doing mission for both factions LDF and SN LTD with the mission summary in all of them raising Civil Unrest for CSG what doesnt sound good..others were killing feds (like me) in the checkpoints and the last ones did bounty missions also with overall odd summarys largely.
Maybe tomorrow lets talk about this and lets get a bit more organized again here in lugh.
PS: Question to orfeboy. Shall i start trading again in lugh for csg stations (maybe with some other commodities as the usual ones). ? I decided to stay in Lugh (while doing small 500 Lys expeditions from time to time) till lockdown is over and then i will go a other way for maybe 1-2 weeks and will be back for lugh again afterwards. And one another question also. Found a unexplored earth-like world and some terraform candidates. Would it be ok for you to handle them over to CSG or you dont want to try to get one new planet colonized (if its possible in the future) by CSG in the meaning to test it just out as an experiment. As for me i see colonization (isnt the same for me as expansion etc) also in a matter of science and not only as lets go guys and slave the whole universe by CSG.
We do have to test unfamiliar missions to see what effect they do. It seems pretty clear to me that doing the Warzone missions for CSG increases Civil Unrest, which IMO isn't a desired state. The people, it seems, would rather not have CSG involved in the conflict between LDF and SN LTD.
The same goes for what effect, if any, attacking check points has on. We don't know, so it needs to tested. They're probably there for atmosphere, but the rather aggressive messages I got while visiting indicates that the background simulation is treating Lugh as a rebellious Federal system. If I was the Dev Team, I'd tie in atmospheric elements with the background simulation to make it feel more like a real universe. OTOH, for this to be a true test, we might need to stop the bounty hunting. Michael did say that was ONE way to resolve the lockdown state, but messages using phrases like "dominance in the galaxy" and "enemy combatants" suggests that there's another that'll lead to the civil war we want.
Could this be one of the "strange" death in stations situations that FD are trying to track down?
Re attacking Checkpoints. Playing Devil's Advocate, I'm wondering if these are added for "atmosphere" and to give you something to interact with rather than any other reason?
Also, I have another suggestion for a possible way forward...
We are currently in Lockdown and we know that when we finally shake it off, the Locksdown state will go into "cooldown" for a while and won't activate.
We believe that shipping in weapons and doing weapons based missions is the key to creating the conflict we need to oust LFE.
So, surely, the best plan is (this is step by step, not all at once!):
1. Bounty hunt to put Lockdown into cooldown mode
2. Bring in weapons, do weapon missions to queue up Civil War/War (whichever we need)
Or am I over-simplfying?
And one last thought: Why are ALL of those mission summaries on the last few pages (the ones about donating money and killing npcs in checkpoints) affecting CSG AND Silver Natural? It looks to me like there isa war coming, but it's with Silver Natural, not LFE.
As ever, I reserve the right to be completely wrong about all of the above.
Maybe ship weapons for LFE whilst doing legal trading for CSG?
Put the federal heat on LFE and make CSG look like the faction to trust in?
Just a thought ie do negative influence missions for the competitive factions?
As I understand it, Civil Wars are triggered by influence and influence differentials only. I don't think I've ever seen a mission summary with Civil War +/- in it. Nor do I think shipping weapons to LFE would make any difference. They
are the Federal faction in control. If they bring in weapons, they'll use them on
us, the rebellious population, not each other.
Personally, if you want to put the screws to LFE, and are still neutral to them, take their missions, and search USSs, like I'm doing. You may need to build up influence with the Federation outside of Lugh, but it's one way to keep CSG's influence above LFE's without risking another Boom state. It's still profitable, but not nearly as profitable as trading or taking CSG's missions, since you do waste some time checking out USSs.
*pause*
If the consensus is to keep bounty hunting in order to reduce Lockdown, when I get home, I'll reconfigure my Courier Cobra to once again be armed and armored. Might as well do a little bounty hunting while searching those USSs. Got half a million in the bank currently, and capital sitting around is capital not working for me.
