Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Community goals are online in Lugh now.

Lets go ladies and gentlemen and let us win this war !

This two for CSG.

For Lugh !

Ooh! With those two community goals, commanders can choose which one they are more suitable for. Owners of T7s might make more of an impact by trading. And traders, obviously watch your sixes, and maybe buddy up into a wing!

I'll be attempting to participate in Lugh so if anyone needs an escort add me cmdr Paul Bryant. I'll be in an Asp and maybe a low end Vulture if I can find one but, even as just a target it may allow escape for a trader.

Doesn't matter to me what side as long as I get 5%. Services go to the most profit potential. Merc work :D:D

I'm flying in tonight I presume I just take out fed ships in the conflict zones and cash the bonds in knight dock ? I'm flying a mildly modded cobra but insurance is cheap! It looks very busy and should be a hoot . Let's do this for the children of lugh

OK guys, there is no room for rest now. Do not take any comfort in those numbers. They mean nothing. If we drop the ball for a second we will quickly drop and we cnnot alow that to happen. We have the whole of cyberspace against us. We are a small fish in a big pond bitterly defying an aggressor who wishes to force us to be a mere servant in their regime.

The fat bloated moneymen that sit at the top of this machine, feeding off the common man across this galaxy want to keep you right where you are. That fat bloated sow, Halsey wants to keep you passified while she and her cronies indulge themselves at our expense!

I want you to send them a message,

the Lugh system and the Sons of Conn will be your slaves no more,
and those who would choose to keep us in our bonds will die this day!

Get out there!

Do not relent until Lugh is free! Send those dirty Feds back home!

My main cause has always been anti-Federal and anti-Slavery (ergo antie-empire). I will be headed to Lugh this weekend.

*edit* Note: I do this of my own voluntary accord and do not have the backing of the AEDC or any other venture in this endeavor.

Cash the Combat Bounds in Balandil!
DONT Cash in in Knight Station

And take the community Goal in Balandil first.

I don't know fellas. I'd love to help, but it seems I am not hardcore enough for this. :D Upon arrival to high intensity got jumped by Anaconda even before picking allegiance. Got away with shields intact. Went to low intensity where i picked CSG for allegiance and immediately got attacked by another annie and her faithful wingmen. Lost 30% of the hull, jumped away cursing. So.. yeah it seems my Vulture is a serious underweight in the competition.

Perhaps freedom-fighters can post a time for a joint effort tomorrow, hmm?

I'd join that one.

I find this rather disappointing, actually. They've clearly interceded and created community events, yet this was supposed to be a test of the automated background sim. So Frontier have effectively ended the experiment that we were engaged in.

That's a rather pessimistic way to look at it though. They may have a long-term ambition to generate community events automatically when player actions cause things to happen like this. So maybe they are experimenting with what kind of events they should be generating, and this is just a placeholder. If so, I'm happy to continue participating in the testing. Shame they haven't involved or at least informed the DDF.

I just want to say that that is the actual full quote. The quote part inside of that is David talking about players asking that question. So he did say it works. Now he could have heard wrong from someone but it does appear as he said it worked. That is not the authors words, that is David's response.

Orfeboy, the folks who are contradicting your read of the quotation marks are correct. You and I spoke about this on TS when the article was published, and you had me seeing it your way as well for a bit.

There are not quotation marks around the majority of Braben's words in the interview. The confusion, as pointed out by Artophwar, is that a quote being made by Braben ends just before the "offending" sentences at the end of that paragraph.

Not trying to be a jerk here, just trying to stop the proliferation of that misconception.

I suppose we could argue the semantics of "And it did work", but clearly- as recent events chronicled in this thread can attest- it did NOT work (as intended) and is still a work in progress, however improved the system might be at the moment.

Community events are supposed to work with the background sim, injected by FD in response to player actions. And as we've discovered, the Lugh system is an edge case. Unlike neighboring Sesuang, where the system worked correctly, Lugh is apparently complex enough for the background sim to break repeatedly.

As such, it's a perfect test environment for testing community events. If it's not going to work as expected, it'll probably do so in Lugh.

Lugh is full of commanders, looks like a lot of Feds turned up. So far I haven't met any Federals who willing to stand and fight in the conflict zones yet, I've chased of a couple of Vulture pilots so far.

Apparently they don't mind me laying waste to there Anacondas and Pythons.

Solidarity, Crimson State.

Open is now swarming with Feds, 10 to 1 to the Crimson State by the looks. It's suicide in the Conflict zones.

To be fair, there's a big incentive for any player to bug out rather than lose, as you have to survive to turn in your combat bonds. If I've taken some hull damage and seen a bunch of players arrive fresh, of course I'm going to take the opportunity to go re-supply my ammo and cash out! I'll come back and have a go at them straight away though!
