Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

I can almost imagine the devs staring at a huge screen, and seeing flashing red marks where 'interesting' things are happening in the galaxy. Then they could choose to interfere or add detail to what's already going on. :)

love this imagination :D

Absolutely. It's amazing to see our effort brought into the lore. I aprecciate that very much. Thx for this FD!:)

I am not sure what FD's stance on that is, but my opinion would be that if a storryline idea from the players is half decent and does not stamp on any predefined lore then it should be considered. I have seen paper and pen roleplaying games that have rejected player input in the past even though what was presented was done with more heart and creativity than what the company itself was producing. This can be for legal reasons of course but can be very disheartening for players.

From whatI can deduce the existing factions in ED are aldready loosely based upon historical sources. The Roman Empire and US government could be argued to represent the Empire and Federation. While the Alliance could be the EU or perhaps Arab nations the world today (OPEC). At least in terms of their common support structure.

This is a similar idea to Star Trek. I am no Trekie but do have enough savy to realise that the Vulcans are the Greeks and Romulans are the Romans etc. In the same vein I think the Lugh thing works representing the Celtic world.

Somebody over there in FD is responsible for putting in all the Irish references relating to the various systems. They abound in the game with

Eranin, Aulin, Cruachan, Medb, Chulainn, Lír, Tara, Tír Na nÓg, Crom, Sheela na Gig, Fionn, Lugh and many others I may have forgotten to mention. The creators of the game may have been unaware of their meddling back at the beginning but I am sure they are well aware of it now! :)

I can only imagine that person is sitting over there grinning with all this going on... :)

This is awesome! :)

Please can we all do the same thing this evening/tonight again?
I will be out there, 100k is in reach, keep it up guys! :)

Can anyone tell me why faction influence drops to 0 during a war? This seems new in 1.2

This is a problem that FD know about and are pondering what to do in future:

A heads up that we're going to tweak how wars work in an update soon. The current system means that with wars the minor factions lose too much of their influence and allowing non-combatents to swallow that influence. We'll change it so the warring factions can only cannibalise each other for the duration of the war.

I agree, it would be nice if the whole system were automated end to end so that this could happen anywhere in the galaxy without the devs having to be aware that it is happening. I hope that this is the long term goal, to automate the generation of community goals when factions go to war, and that the Lugh events are a test of what those goals should comprise and how they can be automated in future.

Actually it'd be nice if you could
- create a clan/alliance/guild/corps
- create community goals with the clan
- Doing some kind of daily missions, like "collect 10 million civil war bonds", "trade for 10 million profit", etc.

We (Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corps - AEDC) are currently having a hard time tracking
- our members
- our daily orders
- our target systems
- influence numbers, current and historical
- states / pending states
- amount of bounties, combat bonds, trade profit done, exploration profit done per player and per system

We do all this with custom spreadsheets, websites and databases.
And the game itself supports us hardly at all in it. You can't even save favorites on the galaxy map.
It's fun, but it could be easier. Since most of us have jobs we can usually choose whether we do administration for the tools and the Alliance, or whether we actually play.

Double credit to you and the other top five guys. The amount of time you guys have put into this project must be astronomical.

I'll try to rustle up another few loads tonight. Hopefully this time I won't hit "eject all cargo" instead of "enable silent running" when trying to dock with a hold full. What sadistic b*stard decided to put those two keys next to each other by default.

Now other groups claim to have successfully changed controlling factions in a number of places. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=127953

So far we - the Elite Diplomats - have 5 switched systems under our belt. One that was solely our effort, 4 others where we helped with a few final pushes.
We plan to add 2 more to the record this week, where civil war is already running or at least critical. At least if we won't encounter new bugs.

Some were in the classic way (coming from below, triggering war, winning war), some in the new 70% way.

System turning works.

And after what the Federation does to Lugh and in 78 Ursae Majoris, independent systems flock to the Alliance as if they have the devil breathing down their neck...

Rough! One of the first things I did when I started playing was remap any suspect keys to obscure but reachable places. Learnt the hard way in previous games that 'pitch-up' and 'eject' probably shouldn't be mapped next to each other...

The way I remember it is that since the Home key is to open the cargo scoop, the button below it (and with the opposite meaning) is the button that kind of does the opposite of the cargo scoop and ejects everything. But I have made the mistake of jettisoning cargo instead of enabling silent running once or twice.

I've decided to help you guys with collecting military intelligence. I've followed this thread for quite some time now, but have never actively participated. But now that there are so many opportunities to make money in interesting ways, I couldn't resist. I'm more of a mercenary with Federation supporting tendencies, but what they don't know won't hurt them ;)

I'm using a Cobra, and even though I had only a 16 ton cargo hold, I could still scrap in quite some money. Now I've upgraded the cargo, so hopefully I'll be able to earn even more.

You´re right Orfeboy. So i better should have been saying 'kind of' Lore. It is not actual Lore in that sense but at least Players fill the System with 'kind of' Lore and FD are recognizing that and packing our hard work somehow in the Game or at least Galnet. Lugh is a pretty populated (in terms or real Players) System now and it wouldn´t make me wonder if there would be coming up some 'real' Lore depending on our effort. I believe that the Fight for Lugh won´t be over for a long time, even though the Community Goals/Wars etc. are finished and the Feds are out. The Fight will go on then hopefully and Lugh will take a special System within the ED-Universe. Could be a longtime War. If that´s the Case...i will be in for sure! :)

If only the Alliance had some nice ships to give us to fight with. I'm actually all over the Alliance concept - I just have no practical reason as a player to work with them right now. Here's hoping FD will address.

Only a tiny number of systems in ED have descriptions - most giving a bit of background about what relevance they had in Frontier / FFC. Going forward, systems such as Lugh really could do with starting to have descriptions based on what players have done there.

Well said! +1 for special player activity description!

That's an interesting idea - however system descriptions are semi-permanent so it would need to be something of historical note.

I really think that pìlots here in Lugh are doing something of historical note as the first authentic war in E: D ;-)

Thanks for watching Michael!

Could system descriptions be updated automatically from player-influenced events, even if the results are transient?

Eg: "In the early 3300s Lugh saw fierce battles for control of the system, with the outcome that the Crimson State Group achieved overall dominance"

Same for community goals and other states like Outbreak.

So I help just as much as I can in my little Vulture, I'm up to over 100 tons contributed (paultry, I know, but I don't have much time during the week), and we are sooo close. We need everyone we can get on this. If people ask how to make money, guide them to Operation Dullahan. FD have given us the tools to prevail, we need to use them!

OK People, this is it!

Seega Port is currently battling to defend itself against the Feds. They are putting up a stiff fight but all supply lines have been cut off All we can do now is hope they hold out against overwhelming forces.

Despite this, we are still in this thing to win and if you do as I say right now we will give those nasty power trippers something real to think about. We are outnumbered as you all know so this has had to be a tactical fight on our part.

It is always darkest just before dawn!

I need you all to get out there tonight and work your (insert word here) off and get those canisters! This is a do or die at this point. If we can manage this we have a real chance!

Seega may fall, but if it does it is not the end! Believe me, we have seen this coming but have had to make tactical decisions.

We are going to teach the Feds a lesson they will never forget! Lets go!

Am amhain nios mó!

Éirigh as lucht leanúna agus laogh na Lugh gach áit!

Seo é an uair tábhactach!

Lugh Lámhfhada abú!
