Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Looks nice Roybe, echof0xtrot... Maybe in a few weeks if there are a number of us with the paintjob we could get together for another group photo! FD wouldn't be able to resist promoting that!

Guys just to let you know we came to Lugh tonight looking forward to a fight with your defence wing. My friend was in the instance with your defence wing and when the rest of us jumped in we were in another instance. We spent the next hour trying to appear in the same instance with you guys (in out sc/ hsj to next system and back). No success.
It would have been great to have a Fed vs Lugh wing fight but unfortunatelly this game will not allow it. I am so disappointed with the way ED is turning out. As a KS backer probably this was the low point for me following 8 months of playing.
I know you have spent a lot of time researching backround sim (which I think is non existent) and have done great story telling. But what is the point of blockading a system if we can not be in the same instance? Great shame :(

But what is the point of blockading a system

We are not blockading it, we are policing it and making sure that the horrors of war won't haunt the children's dreams again before long. But I guess you Feds are too brainwashed to grasp the difference ;)

PS : yes, instancing can be a b**ch. But should you one day manage to jump in the "right" instance, we will gladly give you CSG's greetings ...

Mercenaries my friend ;). Looking for a good ol' scrap and targets to fine tune weapon calibration and ballistics. We may meet again... maybe on the same side ;)

If you are not directly at the main tourist spots 500 LY should be enough.

About 800 ly out is a safe bet. Just don't fly into the direction of any Nebulas. Then fly upwards/downwards until you hit the dense star region. Once you are 1500ly out and away from Nebulas and other tourism attractions, you are pretty much guaranteed to be the first wherever you go. And if you aren't, just fly 100 ly in an awkward direction. Like up or down.

Thanks guys... as it turned out I was in the unfashionable left arm of the spiral ( I know.. like wearing a bow tie or something) so... the 400 km or so was enough for no nuisance npcs and 12 first discover systems after a day or so away. Just a quick jaunt and Ill go soon for a longer one but I'm nervous about leaving Lugh for too long until its settled.

a blockade is the last thing we're doing. anyone that wants to come to Lugh and help out with CSG's rise to independence and the freedom of Lugh is more than welcome. do missions at balandin/knight/hartsfield/read, interdict and kill LFE/DoL/SN wanteds in SC, trade out of our stations to your hearts content.

any CMDR that willingly enters cavendish airspace, or the airspace of any Fed-aligned station, will be treated as hostile. any CMDR that doesn't respond/submit to questioning upon entering the system will be treated as hostile.

and certainly any wing of "mercenaries" (who, from the sounds of it, aren't getting paid for their work...?) looking for a fight will be treated as hostile.

Honestly, we try to utilize the protective wing more for information dispersal than PvP. Many people need to understand current goals and since most do not come here, we need to talk to them. We RP police, 'what's you purpose here?' type questions. Folks RP'ing Federation get a tail light shot out. Known Federation players, or those that will not commit to a side, are interdicted on sight and PvP commences. People playing for CSG receive instructions and have a nice day! Our goal really is to keep the system stable and help folks learn how to play the Background Sim.

As you state, no system can be blockaded. The game is designed so that groups can work within a system, but if they become a problem within the community, the community can handle the issue easily. Looking at the situation in Leesti, it appears a player group has ruffled some Alliance feathers. With 2 groups, currently, working to fix the issue, independently. One is planning on going head to head in a PvP mode, the other is working on flipping the lost stations back to Alliance. If the player organization wants to seriously hold onto their gains, they will probably have to go to private group mode to succeed, as their time will be 'wasted' playing PvP, while the second group undoes their gains. This is an interesting way for the community to police itself, and interesting outcomes to the problem related to those interested in playing for control and power. My personal take on this? I'm holding my breath. If people learn how to utilize the tools of each of the different modes, rather than use them for segregation purposes, the game will be interesting for a long time.

I just figured out the problem, and considering my squeaky as hell chair, maybe voice attack wouldn't be such a great idea :p

i ran into a weird launcher problem this morning, hopefully someone can help me out. all of a sudden (worked fine yesterday), the launcher would freeze and become nonresponsive when i clicked play. so, after much research and failed fixes, i uninstalled the launcher and deleted the game files. i redownloaded the launcher (restarting the machine after every step), but when i go to install the game, it sits at "Download Manifest' for ~5minutes, and then gives me a checksum error.

anyone else experienced this? any ideas how to fix it besides the usual?

After you login on the launcher, do not start the game, got to the options menu, and choose verify files.

there's no option to verify files. there's "check for updates," but when i do that it says "you must install the game before you can update it"

is that what you meant?
