News Lifetime Expansion Pass Holders - Update!

I kind of guessed it would a few things like that. As someone who has a LEP, as part of my DDF backing, I think it's absolutely fine as Beyond has been free this year.

Zac has already announced that the next big update for Elite: Dangerous has been green lit and that one LEP owners will be getting for free. 3.3 of Beyond has reassured me that Frontier is committed to the game, despite the dropped carriers and the end of the Mac version (not Frontier's fault IMHO before people get their hackles up), and I'm looking forward for whatever Season 4 is.

I don't think we'll find out anything about that until sometime in Q1 2019 (Unless we get a surprise announcement in the Christmas Charity Stream) but there's plenty of new stuff in 3.3 to keep me busy.

I've been away from the game for a bit so I think I've missed that. The Bobbleheads and paintjobs are a reasonable gesture then, thank you. I don't mind waiting for future updates, but I do want to see something for such a price tag. It's hard to keep track of everything FD have said somtimes, so no worries.

Hopefully after Chapter Four gets released we'll start hearing more about 'what's next'. Probably early next year.

I would be more satisfied if the cosmetics were exclusive to LEP owners. Even if it was merely a decal that says "I bought a LEP and this decal is all I got to show for it in 2018" .

And I absolutely do think that if FDEV would work on their communication and maybe share some info about the future of the game a lot of misunderstandings or wrong expectations could be avoided.

As for the free stuff, my reaction is "meh". I have little interest in paint jobs and zero in bobbleheads. If they really want to give some free stuff as a sop to the LEP holders then why not give some store credit so people can choose what to spend it on?

Nah. Mere store credit is just "money back". It'd be the very same, no matter if I bought it by cash or by store credit. Nothing special there. Unique and exclusive paintjobs are a completely different game. They indeed are special. The problem here are that we get six of them. It's hit or miss.

To maximize chances that they get used, they'd probably have to be for Anaconda, Cutter, Corvette, Krait MK II, FDL and AspX. Another combination could be all the new ships of this year: Chieftain, Challenger, Crusader, Krait MK II, Krait Phantom and Mamba.

But by our luck, it'll be Sidewinder, Hauler, Asp Scout, Type 6, Type 7 and Cobra MK IV.

We'll see tomorrow, what it really is.

Yes, poor communication, this is the issue imho, I can't be on the forum or checking reddit all the time, I just do not have the time. I come and go from Elite a fair bit these days. I do feel that had I received an email explaining what future expansion plans there were relating to LEP, allaying any concerns clarifying that future chapters will not be free and that I will receive something for the LEP, that's all I needed. I am a patient person, I appreciate the difficulties with development, I prefer to wait for quality than just get something thrown together. But at the least, I do expect communication. It's not reasonable to expect everyone to watch the forums regularly.

As far as I can see nowhere in Wills post does it say the LEP is finished and or that is the only thing LEP owners will be getting.

Not sure why people are getting hot under the collar at the moment.

A lot of it comes from the lack of info on the future of the game. Frontier have confirmed there is a huge paid update coming next year which is great. After all these years though, people are getting anxious for news on Atmospheric Planets and Space Legs etc. all of which Frontier have confirmed (in multiple places) are future content - and no doubt a huge part of why a lot of people purchased the LEP.

Really, the sooner that Frontier can post a roadmap for 2019, the better.

Not a LEP buyer but I think they (LEP buyers) would've been a lot, LOT happier if these cosmetics had been completely rare and unobtainable by the rest of us.

I´m trying my best not to sound ungrateful, but this feels more like an insult to my intellect than a present. To be honest, I´m kind of impressed. You´ve lowered the bar to a lever where I didn´t even think you guys would still be able to underwelm my expectations, yet you´ve done it again.

The KEY part being the bit I quoted, as it's the only part that even hints at the future content. It would have been clearer had they spelled out in full that a) there is future paid content planned and b) it's going to be free for LEP owners. Of course, we ought to all have assumed both A and B, but as not everyone reads every message it's no surprise some people were confused.

One of the bigger sellers for the LEP (outside the original supporter offer) was the 'seasonal' nature of the game. Seasons were interpreted to mean annual updates that would be roughly $50-60 USD. This meant that the LEP price would pay for itself relatively quickly and actually save substantial amounts of money for those that purchased it. I do agree, without a roadmap, these customers have no idea what their value of the package means.

I simply hope this bundle of content is not "part" of the LEP, and try to compensate the lack of content coming next year. I´m trying to convince myself that this is a gift for the waiting, and the next year content is awesome and free for LEP commanders, but please.... awesome.

Quite frankly that is absolutely DISGUSTING. I paid over £120 for the product when Horizons was announced.

Now hold on there, Bald Eagle. Not sure why you're so cross. As far as I know/believe, a "Season" is as long as FD says it is, and hold on for 2019. I'm also a LEP holder and also have little interests in skins and less in bobbleheads, but this is just a goodwill gesture and should be treated as such rather than "the last straw".
FD took a decision to address the depth of the content in the game and made a year's development free to all players. Right or wrong, content or discontent, I think that was an honourable decision, so let's enjoy it, and look forward to the next season/year/part of the game that is in full development.

As a LEP holder I'm not particular about the paint jobs. I only have a few ships (four I think) and only regularly fly two of them, so the chances are I won't really benefit from most of the free stuff, but I'm still OK with this because Beyond was a big development that was badly needed. It also needed to be free to everyone. It would be unreasonable to expect FD to be working on another big, paid development at the same time.

Now beyond is done (ish). I'm sure there will be a few more bug fixing patches, but now FD can start work on the next planned expansion. Whatever that is. I look forward to finding out what it is and I look forward even more to getting it free when it's done
