I think you get everything except the lowered insurance costs for ship rebuy which was for early adoptors and I imagine the beta access might not start until Horizons beta unless the pass privileges download before then, so it could be that only the current beta players will test 1.4 and 1.5 (possibly, though that may be at same time as Horizons from something I read yesterday).

I hoped that I get replies from players that bought the game after the release and now bought the Lifetime pass, to share their experience - guessing won't help me much:)

OP, i did the same as you and have since now access to beta versions. since at the moment no beta testing is active excatly nothing has changed for now.

As soon as the horizon beta starts we both can download and start that, as a separate game where some (not all) things are a bit cheaper, but this does change nothing with our progress in the main game.

as mentioned our insurance percentage does not change and we get no other advantages (like cost-free ships or permits) like the backers.

so inside the main game really nothing will change for you, except that the main game advances with more content.

<nods> Yeah, it ain't how I understood the KS reward - but it surely looks like two different rewards now.

It seems like FD decided to draw a line at Premium beta backer and above that they would have beta access to all seasons. This wasn't mentioned in the original kickstarter so I guess they could have drawn that line anywhere they like. It's a pity that us £80 to £100 backers are excluded but I guess that's their choice.

To add insult to injury :) for us, if we want to participate in future betas we effectively have to buy the expansions we already bought again just to get the beta. I'm hoping FD will come up with a fairer solution for this in due course as it feels like this small group of original backers are being singled out to pay higher prices (probably not on purpose but this is how it's worked out with the current pricing policy).

Edit: Unfortunately it's now more difficult for FD to fix this issue, because then anyone in this group who purchased the lifetime pass or the Horizons beta just to get beta access would need to be refunded and switched over. This might be why they haven't yet responded to specific questions about this.

<nods> Aye, that's the way of it - poorly communicated by FD, but we're used to that now! They'll not get another penny out of me though!

Thank you, exactly the info I was looking for

i think the lifetime pass is far too expensive. if it were sub £100 it would be more appealing

You're joking, right? They had to design the planetary landing engine. Then they had to redesign the game so that engine would fit in seamlessly without removing the current engine. You think that's cheap? Looks to me like you want them to build bricks without straw (and not much mud either).

Actually it looks like FD might be changing their stance on this - I've just seen a post in the support forum from FD Commander Falcon (Customer Service) where they said they have changed their minds and now all Kickstarter backers at the £80 or above mark will get beta tests.

Hurrah! Thanks to FD for responding quickly to this issue in what is I'm sure a very busy week.

I wish the LTP price reflected the fact I already own elite from standard beta :( because as it stands I would theoretically be buying 2 copies of ED...... If I could afford to buy it on a students wage.

As it should have been from the start.

I agree with the sentiment of the new pricing on the Lifetime pass being "too expensive".

If you look at it from a "value" perspective, well that's another story. But it wouldn't change my stance on it being too expensive.

IE: I think the Warthog Hotas is totally worth $400 for what you get.

But it is FAR too expensive for my gaming budget.

Just curious why you think that. Did you not know what you were getting?

I didn't have KS, I've been in-game for about 8-weeks. It was less of a risk for me to pay £120.00 8-months after launch than it was for those who paid money up-front for an idea. £80.00 is a lot of money to give away on a promise, whereas £120.00 on what I consider to be an established game with a future is for me a safe bet.

It's that aspect of risk, faith and support that should have been recognised with the release of LEP Mk2.

£130 for another 9 years development (they do talk about their 10 year plan). That is an annual cost for the price of some MMOs monthly subscription cost.

There is a risk of the game ending early, and obviously a leap of faith as we do not know details of each season to come.

Assuming 10 years - and £30 is the asking price for upgrades, its £270 to buy year on year. So about 50% reduction.
Assuming another 4 years (total 5 year lifecycle) £160 for year on year verses £130 plus you get a discount at the moment.

A leap of faith yes, expensive no.

I just asked the same question:

I don't have a date when the offer will end right now, but it should run for at least a few months and hopefully until we start selling on Steam.

This is not confirmed though so my advice, if you want it, buy it asap. I hope we can let you know a date soon.

Yeah right, let's buy it right now! Who needs to see some ingame footage before making his mind, right?
