Could I just throw in that whilst all of you are saying not to have a goal and it's about exploring, yes it is. Whilst out on my trip I personally had a goal of not coming home until Elite, I surpassed that which is why this challenge came about. It's about how far are you willing to risk all that data, what will you push your ship to, how long can you stay out without going completely insane. I returned with 91% hull and no canopy damage but the black got to me, I just couldn't stay out there any longer. I was having nightmares, even day-mares of seeing the "your ship has been destroyed" screen. Logging back in after sleeping was hell. Did I park safely, are you sure there were no asteroids around. The hardest part though was coming home. It was so hard not to scan that interesting system and just jump away. At one point, I plotted a route with a low fuel tank and ended up stuck in an area the route plotter couldn't find a path out of. I was frantic! It took me 2 days to find a route out and carry on and the relief when that damned route planner finally plotted a 1000ly trip was indescribable. That's what this challenge is about, once you have elite status in the bag, staying out there is gut wrenching. The thrill of exploring, the risk of losing it all and the elation of finding things nobody else has seen before....that's Elite: Dangerous...I love it!
