Elite Dangerous players say they’re being scammed, trapped in space, and forced to work
Waylaid and forced into labor 800 light-years from home

Remember kids, lollypops aren't free...

Is this not the very definition of 'emergent gameplay'? When Odyssey is here will we be able to physically multicrew and liberate the deep-space labour camps?
liberate
"So, why is your FC called Kumo Burger? Where do the commanders go?"
Hmmm...
Suicidewinder would have made that a much shorter article... Never been impressed with Polygon articles, I must admit.
There would have been no way back other than to self-destruct his new starship and effectively begin Elite’s grind all over again.
Those at Poly aint have better stories to write? For real? It seems it affected only 20-30 cmdrs at most, I can kill 2-3 times more than that each day, if would go into cmdr huntin around newb zones.
Every single one who was dumb enough to get stranded like that deserved it, in end, even if they would selfied, they would save ton of time, but I guess they probly was too attached to thier litte starter ships...
Props for those who tricked them, nice job.![]()
I’m not against the story per se.
In fact, I think it deserves media attention - but from a positive angle. It’s brilliant gameplay. Well done to those who thought of it!
But the way it’s been portrayed in this article is miserably inadequate
The fact that you keep your credit balance, materials and most importantly the knowledge of always packing a fuel scoop unless you absolutely know you don't need one obviously slipped them by (if someone's next question is "how would I know I need a fuel scoop?" you need one).Ah yes, because I lose everything I own on death, and rebuy isn't a thing.
