Long Range Passenger Missions Question

Which ship do you use for the 3,000+ trips. I have a Beluga which I use for passenger bubble travel and has about 31ly range but a don't fancy that for long range😃. Was thinking the Orca, anyone got a decent orca build with a good jump range.

Thank for reading Commander's.

I haven't done a long distance passenger run in quite some time, but if I were to now, I would definitely go for the Orca. I much prefer the shorter ranged missions though (sightseeing and transport) although the long distance ones can be really fun and profitable. I grinded them when they were new, in my AspX no less, and made a small fortune.

I'd D rate everything, and engineer the life support and sensors for lightweight to maximize jump range.

I favour an Aspex-- with decent roll you can get 50 ly and don't forget should you wish the same FSD can be stored for used in a Python

I use my Orca. Just finished a round trip from the Bubble (I live in Colonia), and boy are my cool running thrusters tired..

I'm guessing that you want something with lux cabins. Go for the Orca. D rate everything except the FSD and fuel scoop. Did a little engineering on my thrusters and FSD. Got my range up to 36ly.

No mention of an Anaconda?

Odd - I have one I use for Sightseeing Missions that does 50 LY with a 6C First Class Cabin.

Hard to guess what would work best from where I am in the bubble without really knowing what's available in Colonia. Time is money, so I guess there's a calculation to be made in order to determine what gives you the most bang for the buck to figure out how many of which classes of cabins compared to the loss of range.

I have an Orca with one 6C and 2 5C cabins that can hop 39.46 Laden and boosts to 559M/S with 24 passengers on board.

That might work.

Ouch - about 600 jumps each way 10 hours out and 10 hours back

Yeah your Orca build seems a good bet. A would use a Anaconda but I'm poor at 270 million just now and would want to kit it out straight away if a bought it.
There is probably more good ships which would do the long range passenger role but I prefer using the ship for the role it was designed for.😃

I took an Anaconda and stacked 5 missions to roughly the centre of the galaxy; 4 different destinations (2 were for the same place) but all fairly close together compared to the distance to Sag A*. Made 300M from the passenger missions alone. If you are going to do this use a station where you are allied with multiple factions so you have a good choice of missions. Once you are ready to go, be patient and spin the boards until you get good payouts. Mine ranged from 40M up to 80M.

Thanks!

What kind of Cabin mix would you recommend?

I am getting a bit bored in the bubble at present. The chance to build some cash might be what I need for a while.

I had a mix of first and business, but at least one of them was over-spec for the passenger I ended up taking. I would advise buying a selection of first, business and economy class, and have them ready to fit. When you find a mission to take, pop into outfitting and equip the cabin you need. Lower class = lighter weight = bigger jump range = get there and back faster!

This is actually a good suggestion. I've done this before and made close to 150M for doing 4 sightseeing missions (now it's mostly short ranged). Then you also get rewards for the Exploration data you sell when you get back to the station so make sure to have an Advanced Discovery Scanner at least.

An Orca is good just make sure to visit Farseer for an FSD mod, increased range really helps alot. Fitting in smaller modules and not fitting unneeded modules also greatly increases jump range, A-rate them too if you can for some heat management. Fuel Scoop, dont forget.

If you're not very confident using an Orca, since it's expensive then you can use an ASP instead - cheap, great jump range and enough slots to put cabins.
