Newcomer / Intro Long range passenger missions (what would you do??)

I do these sometimes. I'd say if the mission hasn't failed, carry on. Completely ignore any mission-related messages. And by that I don't mean don't do what it requests, I mean do not even open the message to look at it. If you don't do anything further to drop passenger satisfaction you should make it fine. That is, if you haven't already quit the mission.

Never, ever open one of these messages is my advice. I am nearing 10,000 butts delivered, and have zero disgruntled or ejected. Partly this is due to reading the fine print on the mission descriptions, and partly due to ignoring the requests, I reckon.

That can be done faster. You said "Dolphin", so I'll assume a reasonable build with 45 ly jump range and a 4A scoop. According to Spansh's Neutron plotter, that's slightly over 300 jumps if you use Neutron Boosts. From my experience, The Dolphin can do between 4 and 10 kly/hr (without Neutrons or inside one of Neutron fields with in-game Neutron plotting). These two roughly match - you can do those 35 kly in ~3 to 6 hours game time using a Neutron route.

---

Edit: or you cah check for a DSSA carrier in your area and dock for repairs and cashing in the explo data.
There's also the 3D repairing station and the damage the FSD incurs for using a neutron highway along with material gathering, so I was doing 2hrs per day/5 kly (more time doing this and it gets really boring for me). But it does not matter anymore since I blew myself up and now I'm back at the bubble doing the CG.
But if anyone's interested, theres about 4 Earth-like planets in the route (undiscovered) + about 3 amonia + about 4 WW + a lot of terraformables

I'm taking note of this for my next LRP since I've read the same in other forums. But for next time, I'm using an Orca.

I would have given a "Like +1" for this even without the Orca. But then you went and made a good post a great one, didn't you?

Big fan of the Orca, it may be Elite's most underrated ship. Orca commanders like the exclusive nature of such a fine vessel, and frankly we should keep quiet about it.

Shown here in long range sightseeing trim, but I can shuffle around the cabins, booster and scoop depending on what the role of the day is. Fantastic speed, good jump, fair protection, magnificent view and excellent supercruise handling, idles at 14% heat. Saud Kruger is the ultimate in elegance and refinement. Anyone who questions your choice because the 'Conda/Python can carry way more' just doesn't get it. Don't even try

If you arrived at the embarkation platform and saw all of Elite's ships lined up to whisk you away to your destination, it would be the Orca you stepped aboard. In the Orca, you have already arrived :)

Strangely while I loath passengers the Orca is amongst my favourite ships, I used one of mine the other week in the Rare Goods trading CG.
It should be ideal for getting wanted passengers in and out of the station without being scanned as long as you have the 6A G5 Dirty Drag Drives fitted.

Not bad! Props for using low emissions PP, I recently fell in love with it.

This is a great point. That was my inspiration when deciding how to fit mine out. I love cool-runners, regardless, but the Orca is the coolest in my fleet. It's great for evading scans, which works just as well during submit and scoot, not to mention excellent suitability for rescue missions at incursion systems, if we ever see them again. The NPCs don't even open fire when I submit, due to the speed/temp combo. I assume they can't resolve the ship for long after the drop, and then they are looking around muttering, it was right there a second ago! Big ol' Orca just vanishes. I have a smooth medium blue paint on it for the swag you see, but it suits it.

Gotta be dirty drags, agreed. Speed is life, and I see all sorts of concepts, but every single ship in the fleet is A-rated dirty drags except the ones with EPTs (dirty drive distributors of course). There have been some discussions about clean versus dirty, and this Orca I think is a good example of a cool-runner with top speed.

Good spot and while I use them in several ships, I think the Orca is the only one with G5-anything on the power plant. A big part of the low idle with so much power invested in the thrusters. I don't need a heatsink really, but you know how it is. And anyway one day I might be out and about and pass a burning station. And if so I'll be ready to roll haha. The wake scanner is for Thargoid wakes. I've been secretly expecting these will have a use someday, and maybe for G5 anti-fog facemask or something in Odyssey :)

Those two utilities don't weigh much, but they do draw some power, and the ship idles a point over where it could be. But I gotta be ready for those bug wakes.

A couple days ago I became aware of the double-engineered FSD from that CG a few weeks back. It's only class 5 and perfect for the Orca. So of course I bought it (actually four of them so far) and installed it in the Orca. Then I flew it to Felicity to put Mass Manager on it.

Double Engineered FSD Orca

(oops posted one without cabins, too many builds haha)

A really nice boost to the old girl. Gained about 5 light years jump. The description of the module says it has lower integrity, increased mass, higher thermal load and draws more power. Looks to me like the mass and power are the same, but it is a few points hotter when the FSD is engaged. Idle however didn't change, still 14% (same power draw?)

The kicker is it has increased optimal mass, about 8 percent it seems. So this FSD has 2s boot, which isn't important on this sort of ship, mass manager and higher optimal mass than is possible through engineering, with the only real drawback being slightly hotter jump temp and lower integrity. Outstanding!

Noice!

You know, it really is. It's like adding another GFSDB without taking a module slot.

I feel like my devotion to small and medium ships is finally paying off lol.

But every commander has a Krait, AspX, DBX, Python, Chieftain et cetera, et cetera, in the fleet.

Orca is reserved for the most discerning commanders of course. But that is a nice list of great ships, all of which can benefit from the SuperDrives™
