Long Range Tourist Mission scanning a bit too unforgiving?

Well now I need my own little whine thread and probably a break.
I did a long range tourist mission (~25k ly). as all long range tourist, my passenger demanded not to be scannend. I´ve done a lot of those missions in the past and it never was a problem to get scanned once or even twice.
This time, while docking on my return I got scanned once, while entering the mailslot (hard to slip through with an Exploraconda). The passenger turned from happy to miserable instantly and the mission was failed. 30M Credits gone and even worse the reputation boost also lost. I sent a lot of effort in this mission, well a lot of jump, honk, jump, but it takes time. Now all is lost. I find this to be too harsh and demotivating.
Tourist missions where the only thing that kept up my interest, please FD, don´t make them for "serious players" only by making them so hard, especially avoid such heavy frustration on the home straight :-(

Fly safe everyone

That’s a nasty one. What I do is to ask for docking exactly at the 7,5 km. limit - and then switch on Silent Running and have a Heat Sink ready. With 3 Heat Sinks - or 4 by engineering - you have more than enough time to stay calm and land safely. No haste at all.

When you leave the station it’s boost boost boost - and you can pop a Heat Sink to get “invisble”. I don’t normally do it, but you can.

I have never done a long range passenger mission longer than 2000 light years. If you do it then do it for fun, cause they just don’t pay enough for the time they take.

Lucky for you, there are already tourist missions for passengers that are not wanted, so need to change anything for those willing to take a little more risk.

Wow - most of the long range ones I've seen are far longer:eek:

Sorry that was 25k ly. If it was 25 I wouldn't whine ^^

@ Vedmo: It's not a wanted passenger but one that doesn't appreciate being scanned. Never found a long range tourist that didn't have this "limitation"

Thanks for the advice. I'll give this a try when I give the game the next chance to make me mad :)

I took four explorers on a 25kly or so trip in my explorerconda a couple of months back, with two of them going to the same place. I got to the final location and like an idiot sat at the beacon with my Galmap open pondering a different route back to find myself scanned by a nosey npc and have three of them demand to be dropped off at the nearest station within 30 minutes or they’d launch their escape pods. There was no chance of that as I was far too far away from any stations so off they went taking 150M credits with them and leaving just one fairly miffed explorer behind.

It’s tough and after hundreds of jumps into the middle of nowhere easy to forget you’re not alone at a beacon but it’s the fact the game treats me like an adult and refuses to hold my hand that gives me the challenge I like. Tougher still though when you lost them as you dock at the return station. It’s always worth having a procedure ready to go when you get to either the beacon or a station to give you the best chance of avoiding those annoying scans.

Feel aggrieved for a bit and dust yourself down when you’re ready, you’ve got this covered Cmdr.

Do I understand correctly that you travelled 25000ly with a passenger on a mission that required you to avoid scans, and at the end of it, when entering the station, which is the only place you're likely to get scanned, you didn’t try to avoid the scan? If you did try to avoid the scan, which technique did you use? Why use an Anaconda for a mission like that? Surely a DBX would have been better?

Thats a bit harsh D8...

Heatsink is your friend for this sort of mission, as is docking computer, and it also helps being allied with the faction controlling the station. The higher the regard you are held in by the stations controlling faction, the lower your chances are of getting scanned by the security patrols.
