Longer mission expiring date

Hello everyone,
As an almost 40years old, almost dad "boy" :) I have limited time to enjoy the world of ED, actually I can only fly a couple of hours in the evening, and I enjoy it a lot.
My only difficult is to be able to complete most of the (easy moatly) missions that expire within 24 hours because of my limitation in playtime hours.
I would appreciate if you consider to increase those mission to at least 2days that for me and people who share my life situation, would give the chance to complete in 2 evenings of play.
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work !
Luca

Probably not going to happen so you need to adjust. It may have impact on your play style but maybe do not accept many missions and limit to those you can complete within your play time limit. I'm few years younger but I approach the line where I could say "almost 40" so I know the feeling. Time limitations, not the age :) Anyway I found myself in similar situation - not enough time plus rather casual approach, I can play a weekend and then have week long break. This means I don't know if I would be able to finish missions I accept.

So I only accept those missions I know I can finish within my current session and leave game with empty log. This is probably why I'm not yet a Billionaire, after over 2 years of playing.

On a side note - why increasing to 2 days? See things from FDEVs POV. They decided to incorporate mission timer and they set it ot 24 hrs as most of players will manage to fulfill it within given frame. Sure, there are players like you and me who would benefit from increased time. But there would be players who would not, those who have long shifts for example. They would opt for 3 day limit as it would fit their schedules. In short - there will always be people who would be dissatisfied with whichever limit there is to the point of removing any limits all together. I bet devs thought about it and decided for 24 hrs, knowing there will be cases it's too short.

So as I said - won't happen so it is you who must adapt.

But they usually require 20k+ LYs of travel (cargo and passenger I'm aware of, probably some combat focused too but no solid info from me). It owuld be weird (to say it mildly) to request Colonia run be done within 24 hrs. Such missions have 7 days duration but again, 20k+ LYs of distance to cover.

I think the only 24 hour missions are the delivery, sourcing, mining and combat. From what I've seen since 3.3 if you stay away from wing missions, these should all be completable within half an hour. As Factabulous says, planetary scan missions can give you up to a week to complete them. Again, these are completable in half an hour if you wanted to stack.

I think the standard 24 hours is plenty of time. Just avoid accepting missions that you're not sure you'll be able to complete right away.

This. Generally the 24 hr missions can be completed pretty quickly, and since the missions affect and are affected the BGS state* there needs to be some sense of urgency. The thing to do is not take missions you don' think you'll be able to complete, or not to worry too much if you don't complete them - sure you'll lose a bit of rep but nothing you can't recover pretty quickly.

(*when it works...)

Same here (life situation). Right now I'm waiting for a steam update of 466 MB to finish, hoping to complete a 24h mission I started yesterday evening ...Ahhh...

What do you think about a "mission handover" feature? It could be announced (and labeled accordingly) on the mission board of the station, where the original player gave it up, seeking a successor. The expiration date remains.

Possible outcomes:
1. No successor found -> mission failure as before
2. Successor found and mission failure -> Fine only for the original player. Risky for original player but high incentive for successor, exp. when a mission is half completed e.g. long cargo runs (easy win). At least there is a small chance for the OP not to get fined and get some credits for the work done so far.
3. Successor found and mission completed -> Reward for both palyers, depending on time left and current progress when handover took place.

Assumed all missions' progress is measuarable in a meaningful way, the CMDR who gives up a mission - depending on the progress and time left - receives an amount of credits (nothing to choose here..) only when it's taken over by another CMDR for completion. Of course the reward for the 2nd CMDR should always be significantly higher and include the option to choose the reward, because completion is what counts in the end.

Disclaimer: as a noob I haven't played all kinds of mission.
