Looking for an epic single player game that will run well on my system.

By the way: Artillery Strikes

Shogun 2 Total War's expansion Fall of the Samurai has Ironclads! Shore bombardment! And Gatling guns. The base game is a masterpiece in artwork and quality. The engine's issue with sieges is bearable. Could be a cheap pick, too.

The Witcher 3 as mentioned by others (on your system it will run fine but not locked 60hz)
Mass Effect trilogy
Dragon Age Inquisition
Skyrim
Lords of the Fallen
Doom 2016
Alien Isolation
Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag (will only work if installed on C:)
Ori and the Blind Forest

:)

Doom 2016 runs on my system and I think I have lower specs. It's good but I kinda stopped playing on my second PT. Superb music. Fast combat. Close combat style. And it goes really well with the music. MP sucks, tho.

I'll throw in my +1 for Alien Isolation, if you're a fan of the Alien movies it's an astounding game, really brings back the atmosphere of the original.

The mass effect series are great too although if you prefer to play 3rd person games on a controller as I do, be aware that ME 1 to 3 won't allow the use of anything but mouse and keyboard on pc, only ME: Andromeda allows use of a controller.

There's mods for controller support in ME3.

The Mass Effect trilogy is based on Unreal Engine which has built in controller support. You just need to enable it in the various .ini files. Bioware removed the support which was a bad move...

Grim Dawn. Hundred of hours of pure fun and very rewarding. Or PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUND. Also very much fun to play and a lot of tension.

Didn't play Elite for weeks or maybe even months. Last time I started the game was to showcase it. Now on my SRV on a planet and not willing to do the keybinding to get of that planet again. I'd rather not play as it's not really worth to take the time to do the SRV keybinding.

I let my mate play it on my Xbox once. (He was staying over for a few days). I didn't pay much attention because I was playing Elite on PC while he was doing that.

So it runs well on an Xbox? Well then... Looks like I have a new game to pick up!

I started off with both Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 on the Xbox before going back to PC last year. Witcher 3 is pretty damned good on the Xbox.

The Nexus has controller enabled ME2 and 3 files. Since I played through both on the Xbox, I found using KB/Mouse was a bit odd... Nexus patch solved it. The file also adds the rotary UI used in the Xbox version which (to me) is a lot more intuitive.

It's not the character himself but the hate he receives, at least in the beginning. It's most primitive speech, no humor, no smart thoughts, nothing. Just hate. It's even part of the story so I didn't expect it to change anytime soon.

Ah ok. That's actually an aspect of the Witcher world I like. You're viewed as different, an unknown and untrustworthy 'other' and I enjoyed playing in that perspective rather than being a 'special one'.

I'd suggest that hate is rarely humourous or smart, but I do understand where you're coming from.

The brawls weren't that frequent, but you're right I do kinda like them :)

Thought of another one, now a classic and most definitely epic... How about Half Life 2?? Ok it's getting on a bit, but if you've never played it it's an absolute essential.

The bonus with it being so old it is will run beautifully on anything! 4k/highest settings should be no prob on a 960.
